Can I leave my resource box blank?

Just opened my ezine articles account and have my 1st ten articles ready. They are feel good pieces that have nothing to do with IM. The sole purpose is for me to knock these out and get approved so I can start my marketing blitz.

So with that said...Does it even matter that I have a resource box. Can I leave it blank. Will that be a cause for rejection?

thanks

First off why would you just leave it blank. Just because it is not a marketing article you can still build links to your site. Links are what you want in the long run. So basically you are just wanting to write the articles to make eza money. Put a simple bio and link to your site. It does not have to be relevant to the subject you wrote about. It just has to give the reader a chance to go to your site and sign up or purchase what you have to offer.

Understood. However, I have nothing of value to offer as of yet. No blog with content, no squidoo lense, no free promo, no landing page or opt in. All I have is a niche blog that is not even fully set up yet.

What could I possibly say in the resource box.

My name is so&so and you can visit me here www.XZY.com ?

Build the link to your niche blog even though it is not fully set up yet. Just give them an understanding of what your site is going to offer. Then after you publish your articles. Even if they come to your site you are still building links to it and you may or may not get any click throughs but who really cares if they are basically just junk articles in the first place a link is a link. That is just a few less links you have to build later on. The click throughs may not be as high as if they where targeting your niche but you will get some traffic from those who liked what you had to say in your article and wanted to see more of what you have to offer.

Fair enough. I can see the logic in that.

I appreciate everyone's friendly advice & suggestions. They are all very much appreciated!

This is fine, especially since you say they are just "feel good" pieces that have nothing do with IM. Just submit them without the resource box for now, remember that you can always go in and edit them later if you'd like.

The whole point of article marketing is to get people interested in what you have to say and then want to click the link to your website in the resource box. In my opinion it just doesn't make sense to leave it blank.

      Hi Highkick,

the resource box is a great tool and is where you are going to get the traffic that you want to your website.

Use it to link your audience to your own website that should have some more information about your topic.

Build the site/blog and then submit the articles. It's a waste to use the articles without getting any publicity from them, IMO.

You may let your resource box empty, but why doing that. That is the main source of your traffic.

Buy domain or use your existing blog. Link from your resource box to your domain or your existing blog even if you have no offer whatsoever.

You can said, "This link below will lead you to my site. But don't click it just yet because there's still nothing here. [your link to your blog/domain]" or something like that.

That way, at least your domain get link and with link, your domain will seen more popular in google eyes. With popular domain or blog, your chance to getting indexed in the future for your next page is higher.

No, it won't be a cause for rejection.

This is a very good and well-known way to get to get to "Platinum" quickly without having any possible issues over either your resource-boxes or the site(s) linked to in them. Many people have successfully done exactly this.

After you get to "Platinum", it's a trivial matter, whenever you want to, to revisit those articles and edit them to include a resource box and a couple of valuable links.

EZA has changed its system for "edits" now and doesn't even take the articles offline, pending re-approval, and they almost always attend to the re-approval within one business day.

    In other words: "good idea".

    Hi,

The resource box is where you leave details on what you have to offer or about you.
This may not seem important to you right now but any one who reads those articles now if they are good will remember you,so when you do have a link to put in future articles they just might click on them, which is what you need

If you don't promote something in your resource box, you will kick yourself later, because EZA syndicates articles.

While you can go back and add something to your article at EZA later, it must be approved again once you do so, once the article is syndicated outside of EZA, you won't have the ability to affect the addition of your resource box later.

Even if you are pointing to a domain holder, or a domain with a short About Me blurb, that will be far better than going with blank.

I would recommend sending people to an opt-in box for a mailing list. While those people won't be keen on IM offers, you may find value in that list later, perhaps even in unexpected niches.

Some people enjoy writing as a pastime.

Bill, from what he's saying it appears they are "feel good" articles that are specifically designed to get him quickly approved, and this is probably why he's not keen at all to do anything with the resource box on this initial batch of articles.

While a completely blank resource box won't get you rejected, it isn't exactly the norm, either. If you don't have anything you want to link the articles to, I'd think about putting in some kind of bland blurb about the author (pen name), even without a link.

As Alexa mentioned, it's a simple matter to change the resource box later.

For the reason he explained. It's a fast, reliable and efficient way to get 10 articles approved for the purposes of immediate promotion to "Platinum".

Because of EZA's recent procedural changes concerning edits/re-approvals, you can add the resource boxes a day or two later.

With respect, a number of posters in the thread have missed the point, here.
