Just How Important Is Article Writing?

Hi all,

I am already converted and understand the importance of article marketing as well as the possible benefits from it.

I would like your input regarding your experiences with article marketing and how important an asset it actually is for your business.

For an example i will show the view stats for one of my articles in EZA:

This article has been viewed 2,520 time(s).
Article Submitted On: October 30, 2010

This article also has over a 27% CTR (It was higher)

IMO is is an amazing amount of possible traffic to any website of your choice...

Well written articles posted at a reputable article site such as EZA get you that all important traffic every marketer needs. Much more valuable than just writing crap for backlinks. Posting at Squidoo and Hubpages and similar sites have the added advantage of gleaning traffic from within their community.

I'm sure some of the better article writers will be along to tell you some specifics shortly.

BTW, your title says article writing, article marketing is not necessarily the same thing.

I think article writing is the most important factor in SEO. If you are a good writer and submit articles to Ezinearticles or Articles base, then you will be guaranteed a succesful marketer.

Actually there's considerably more to it than that, Imediazone, which is why the overall success-rate among "article marketers" is distinctly on the low side.

Submitting articles is simply one approach to the "traffic generating" function of your business, and to a much lesser extent to the backlink-generating function.

It can be a very good one, if you do the article well in all respects and if every other aspect of your business model is also viable, tested and proven successful.

Plus, outside of the investment of one's own time and energy, there really isn't much monetary expense/overhead to article marketing. It's as simple as signing up for an account, and posting. Unfortunately, where there is little cost or barrier to entry, the competition can be insane. Most just give up very easily though, so that competition MAY not be as intense as I perceive sometimes.

You are on the right track, now you need to explore the stat which is even more meaningful for you. What is your conversion rate?

A 27% CTR is very good, but it become meaningless if the conversion rate after they arrive at your site is low. You will discover some of the best article marketers have CTR's at about half of yours, but their conversion rates are off the chart.

Start keeping track of your views, CTR, and Conversion rates as a total picture, always working to maximize the conversion rates. You may discover your highest converting articles have amazingly low CTR.

lol, Just remember, I'm not advocating writing for low CTR. I'm advocating writing for high value, which may lower your CTR while increasing your conversion rates.

In the final analysis you will discover some marketers are highly successful with volumes of articles with great CTR, and others are just as successful with low volumes of articles (1 per day) with lower CTR. It all comes down to whether it produces the results you want, money in the bank.

To me there is also the other fact that your articles may live on forever and therefore be bringing you traffic for years to come. So if you add more articles then you are creating a larger funnel where you may draw in extra traffic.

Some also go for the longtail by targetting these and posting the articles related to these longtails to squeeze every bit of traffic they can towards their website.

        Hi Chris,

From a monetary standpoint, if you are building a website or blog based on content then it is obvious that articles are very crucial.

Your website would get no traffic or money without them.

Obviously Google feels that articles are important which is why they have spent so much time perfecting their contextual ads.

From a marketing standpoint, articles are one of the top ways of promoting a website or product.

I’d be pretty confident to say that 99% of internet marketers will use articles at some point of their career.
