Undiscovered Niches...?

... or should I say unexploited?

I have heard many times over that if I stumble across a potential niche and I find out there is no competition - that's only because it wouldn't sell.

Recently one of my friends was telling me about this issue she had, and she was pretty desperate to get rid of it. I wanted to help so I went to see my friend - Google.com. I found many "cures" for my friend's problem - however I did not find any info products on sale!

Adwords did have a few physical products advertised, but that's all.
So I decided to do the further research. As per Adword Keyword tool, the main keyword gets about 2,000,000 monthly searches but since it is too broad I concentrated on such keywords as: "XXX Cure", "Get Rid Of XXX"... and so on. Most of these keyword phrases still had a decent amont of monthly searches (3,000 - 60,000) and there are MANY different phrases...

So I though of putting up an e-book because I know that ONLY testing will prove I stumbled across a profitable niche in the "info product" market. I mean, who would have guessed that WATER CAR products will generate millions of dollars in profits?

So, do YOU think there are stillunexploited/undiscovered/underestimated niches/markets that could still be vey profitable? Or the absence of competitors means it will be a fail?

the more complex our lives become, and the more developed our world becomes, the more we will have of these, and in many cases, just like yours , no one will see it, because it's right under their noses

    There are still unexploited niches.

    They emerge all the time.

In fact, every time a new technology or product goes live on a mass-scale, that's a niche right there. You can develop 3rd-party guides and training materials, etc.

Just like how world of warcraft and Xbox repair have become huge lately. There's lots of options like this.

It's a good idea to go after these once you're already well-established with other stuff, though.

I have a totally different outlook for niches that do not have a lot of competition.

So your friends problem has between 3.000 - 60000 searches just for that particular keyword phrase.

There are not many info products related to that phrase. Ummm, so that means all those people that also were looking for help were looking for more information, ie a product etc.

So in essence if I had an info product or service in that niche I have the possibility of 3000 - 60,000 customers.

    Just my two cents

How about IM in different languages. I'm pretty sure everyone, no matter what language they speak, needs to make extra money. Then there are all the other popular overexploited niches such as credit card debt, weight loss, acne, etc. They may be overly competitive in the English speaking world, but how about Spanish, Dutch, French, Chinese, etc. The possibilities seem to be endless.

The very basis of evolution and social development means that new niches will occur all the time.

Some will be cyclic - recession, economic downturn leading to people buying guides on reducing debt and surviving hard times

to some which will be created by advancement of technology or our understanding of each other - guides on how to rechip the XBOX or info products on getting on better with your neighbors!

Even health evolves with new maladies and illnesses being 'created' all the time.

Trick is to do your research first as much as possible and test the water as cheaply as possible.

Your friends 'problem' - could you create a simple 6-8 page guide/report on an aspect of it - create a squeeze page and responder series of 5 or so emails and then drive a little traffic to oit with Adwords? Gives you a chance to see how many hits you get and the subsequent conversions down the line of your test funnel. Price the report at $9.99 or something and split test. If you get some sales and a good % of sign ups - looks like you've found a nice one there.

Also - do consider some people see a niche and ignore it because they think it is too difficult to work with. I found a lovely key phrase with a heap of searches on it with very little competition - basically because it was in an area mnay would find hard to market. A little creative thinking and a couple of days work and bingo - a nice guide selling 1 to 3 copies a day on average at $27 a pop - and the market split between me and two others (and I'll bludgeon them soon too )

Test, analyse, test again and if the prospects look good - commit time and effort and go for it. Worst that can happen is it doesn't work but at least you'll have tried and treated it like a business opportunity!

      Regards

      Rufus
