Recording videos to watch faster later

Much as I enjoy and benefit from watching online video, it's hugely slower than reading.

I read a post here a short while ago that I stupidly forgot to bookmark. Someone mentioned a method whereby they could record videos online then play them back three times faster, to watch later. Can anyone pint me in the direction of this tool please?

Many thanks

Most online videos are embedded via flash. You can download these videos using a free Firefox plugin called Video DownloadHelper. After downloading them you can use the free VLC Media Player to play them as fast as you wish

That's very useful information. It will come in extremely handy when trying to get through some of the terribly long winded videos that some IM's are putting out lately!

I especially hate the videos that have no visible controls so you can't stop and start them. With my slow connection it means I have to watch in dribs and drabs as the video buffers which is so infuriating that I usually give up.

Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer to whiz through a page of text than watch a video that takes 30 minutes to give me just 10 minutes worth of info!

If you download RealPlayer, which is free, it will allow you to download 99% of videos online.

They will automatically show up in your RealPlayer library for you to watch at your own convince.

I recently just downloaded a whole seminar from a website, around 40 videos an hour each, and look forward to spending some time watching them at my own pace.

          Yes, RealPlayer way to go...

I have used it for several years now and it is wonderful way to download the video.

They have version for MAC as well.
