I just bought a domain from "the new" Namecheap a few hours ago and it is still online. Before the redesign, the domains were available instantly after purchase.

Do I have to activate the SSL Certificate? (Because I don't know what that is or does )

Should I just wait a bit longer?

Thanks

P.S. The domain is a .info redirect.

Probably give it a while. Is this a .com or .info since you said it's a redirect of
    sorts?

I could be wrong with my description, but an SSL certificate basically lets its
user create a site where it encrypts whatever data is put in. One function is
those credit card order pages where you'll find https in the web address.

You don't have to use that SSL certificate until you understand it further. It's
a freebie NameCheap gives when you register a domain with them, altogether
with a free WHOIS privacy service.

I am using namecheap too, they are the best in my opinion.

I usually do not buy the SSL stuff, but if you buy a domain there, you should activate the hiding /whois feature which is free when you bought the domain.

After that, update the DNS to use it with your webserver.

      Same here, Namecheap hands down!

I'm not sure what you mean by "online"? I'm assuming still available for sale? You may need to point the DNS, createthe redirect, and then wait for propagation to complete.

You only need an SSL if you are going to be taking payments and dealing with private information.
