Roger Ebert is an Amazon Associate

He addresses that fact here. If any of you are struggling to legitimize your Internet Marketing pursuits to your friends and family (especially you younger IMers), there you go.

I'm interested to know how many of you think that because of Ebert's fame he has an unfair advantage over the rest of us. I'll admit that it was my first thought, but after a few moments I remembered that fame and success don't always go hand in hand.

Seem slike a pretty up and up guy to me in his writing about this.

It doesn't sound like he has an unfair advantage, an advantage maybe, but I don't think he did anything to make it unfair.

God bless Roger he certainly is dealing with some major issues he has to use a computer to speak now. God bless him.

I am sure his income has taken a heavy hit as a result of his health issues so it is pretty neat to see that he has taken on amazon as well. Pretty encouraging people are not wasting their time doing it
    cheers

The way he has tackled his health issues and the after effects of the treatments are inspiring to me. Our health really is the most important thing we have.

I agree. He did an interview on tcm with Robert osbourne his long time friend.
In spite of the issues he now faces he was quite humorous and had a smile on his face. You know Will if something like that happened to me I am not sure I would be able to conduct myself as he did.
He truly is an inspiration but it serves as a reminder of how not only we should be concerned with our lifestyle but also to spend the time needed with loved ones and convey our affection to them daily. You just never know
        Cheers

Hey he might as well. I'm sure his Twitter account holds more clout than the rest of ours. I'd do it too if I was famous.

That link was actually a very cool read. It seems like Ebert has a basic understanding of affiliate/IM stuff, judging by what he wrote there, which I found neat. Looking at his website, he has Amazon stuff all over it now, too. I'm sure he doesn't actually need the money (he still does film reviews) but I have no doubt he could make a killing with his Twitter and email newsletter if he did it right. He said he sold 90 of one item with a single tweet (or link?)... crazy.

Of course he has an unfair advantage because of his fame.

But that fame of his didn't exactly come free...if ya know what I mean. His hard work and talent got him that fame. I don't begrudge him,tho I do envy him slightly the traffic.

And he didn't face all his health challenges alone -- I saw him and his wife on Oprah and vividly remember Oprah remarking that she simply "would not LET him die." Wife nodded, with tears in her eyes.

He's a good man. AND, he's got a good woman. She's pictured here in the other Santa hat: The Ebert Club's post-Christmas Special - Roger Ebert's Journal
