    WHAT THE ****
    I'm paying $50.00 for VPS.

I called all of the numbers below, and apparently, the 1800 number isn't in service.
I'm all good for hiccups, but not when I am paying $50.00...

I better not lose my Google rankings because of the downtime!!!

All of my sites are down as well. I also tried contacting their numbers and they say they are not in service which seems really weird.

I am still able to access my server using my FTP client. FYI for anyone who has important files hosted on your server.

    This is f**N ridiculous.

Like most people here, this is my job (or part time job) whatever you want to call it.
I'm trying to get work done, but it's kind of difficult when I can't access my websites.

I understand outages, but at least warn us.

I don't have a backup of any of my work... Better not get deleted, or I'll be pissed.
I have a years worth of crap on their server.

It happens with all hosting services... that's why none claim 100% up time... usually they claim 98%-99%.

Usually they are only down for a few minutes, if that. Even if the electrical grid goes down at the server farm, it takes a couple minutes for the back-up generators to kick in.

Yea it went down for few minutes... I spoke to them and they said it will be back but they do not have a time frame ( tho my sites came back before I joined the support chat)

Do I lose money on adwords if my site was down and someone clicks?

Only if you are really focussed on "nano seconds" -

If your site isn't live, how the heck can anyone click on a link?

          Just askin!

Ok, get real here folks, no computer ever works 24/7 x365 x years x how long you have rented the disc - space - whatever for.

Ask yourselves this question, you use your own computer, just you on your own, how many times has this single computer let you down. How many times have you had to do a system restore?

Now, imagine sharing the same computer, because that's all you are doing with 1000+ other people, how many times do you imagine they have to do a system restore to keep the other 9999 happy! and then have to have 30 nano seconds downtime whilst they take one rack out and replace it with the backup rack. -----

It's just like waiting for a Bus, sometimes it's on time and other times it's late DUE TO TRAFFIC

lol well since I advertise on adwords, my add will show up as usual but if my site is down would they charge me for that click that didn't go anywhere since my site was down...

I really do not care if my site goes down for few mins since it will happen anywhere else..but looks like others do

And this is not a rack changing issue.. it is a network related issue.. since everything went down.. your servers should be clustered so if one fails everything moves to another cluster but if the network uplinks are down then everything goes down

lol I will stick with hostgator and never use Godaddy again! godaddy is only good to catch good domains ( auctions). their support sucks big time like their product, I had to email the support for 3 days to get an answer if the domain will keep the age or no... they are so retarded and they never read what you ask. they copy the answers from templates... they should call them

I don't know, at $3 per month hosting how much support does one expect? Imagine the call load from people wanting to know what uploading and downloading are. What's a homepage and all of the other questions people are too lazy to seek out themselves. And what type of support should someone expect? Are you going to pay someone $20 per hour to answer questions for people that spend $3 per month?

I have dedicated servers at GD and they have never let me down. Have never even been down more than a couple of times, over years. Almost instant responses to my emails, help fighting hackers, assistance on DNS and MX issues. There are a few that know what is going on at GD. They're just not on the shared hosting support call center. No, I've been using them in various ways for years, never a complaint, except for all of the upsale. Of course no one does that around here..

That is so untrue.. maybe u had a good experience but most of the people do not have a good experience with godaddy.

First of all godaddy offers expensive hosting if you compare it to the market.. everything they have is limited and retarded.. even their domain panel is so slow and complicated..and the prices are high

Hostgator offers the best customer support.. whenever u need them u find them..but as I said it happens data centers go down at some point..it will happen everywhere.

Godaddy once took a whole data center down ( for a customer ) and they couldn't bring it up, their support refused to help and asked the customer to contact the abuse team, the customer did and nobody responded.. what customer services are you talking about? here is the post for this incedent and they have the RECORDING when the guy called Godaddy and how godaddy handled the situation.. that was pretty nasty .. check it out:

Godaddy.com Takes out entire data center - Web Hosting Talk

if other companies can provide support with the same price then godaddy should be able to do so..they just want to make more money..hostgator offers more than godaddy and their support rocks, u can get someone within at max 15 mins , not like godaddy u have to wait 4 - 12 hours

If you cannot offer support then do not promote your business as it is the best...for me I am transferring everything from "goretards" to hostgator.. I am done with godaddy bull****

          Thanks

Does Hostgator have anything to do with JustHost? I have about 30 sites hosted with them about they all went down within the last hour. I noticed it when I was trying to make a post and my browser told me it could not connect to my site. Ugh. I hope this isn't a long outage.

I just want to say that I have had hosting with JustHost for a few domains over the last few years and NEVER had any problems with downtime.

Is this common with HostGator? I have heard good things about them so I wonder if this is a one-time thing?

All hostings go down sooner or later, i'v been for the last year with HG and never had a downtime. And I switched to HG after serious downtimes with the other hosts i used.

I switched to HG after many horrible instances with other hosts and have never experienced issues with HG, however, over the last few months, I noticed quite a few times when the server (network possibly) was down, but always just a for a few moments.

Although it is really irritating when it happens, the reality is that it WILL happen no matter how good a system you have in place, it's just one of those things... And, as irritating as it can be, I know it is always temporary (I still make sure to do weekly backups though, LOL).

For the price HG charges and the level of service and support they offer, I will happily deal with a few momentary outages here and there.

This is true, and it's why I spread my sites out among four different hosts. If one goes down, I've still got approximately 75% of my sites still up and earning money.
