What do you prefer? Screencast or a person?

Now I bet you might think, in some cases I'd prefer screencast tutorials, in some cases watching a person live explaining. That's not my question here.

What do you enjoy more? A screencast or a third person presentation. Or even both (Camtasia has this option I believe?).

Yup, Camtasia can show your face alongside the screencast.

If you're having to decide between both,
ask yourself what type of content are you
    presenting?

Is it a step-by-step kind of content?
    If so, definitely a screencast.

If it's just normal theory based content,
a face would be fine, and saves lots
    of editing time too.

There's another way to present your video
too, which is using Powerpoint presentation
    slides.

Adding custom animation to each bullet point
    usually livens up the video.

I think you need to do all you can to connect with your viewer, and nothing beats one person looking at another, albeit through the screen.

Someone looks at you, you look back. I think it's just the way we are wired.
