What Do You Think of My Template

Hello,

I started a health blog about 3 weeks ago and have a little over 100 posts. My CTR is around 1%. Is this template too flashy? Are my ads in the wrong places? Should I use image ads or text? Here's the link to my blog -> applebananacoconut.com

Thanks,
Laurence

    Hi Laurence,

Your template looks perfectly fine IMO, though, I am no designer by any stretch.
As for your ads, I would add a 468x60 banner somewhere near the top of the post content. Maybe even a 250x250 in the body of the content.

Split test a variety of color combinations to see what 'clicks' the best.

I would personally brighten your blog up. It's a healthy choice blog, which to me means happy-bright-sunshine like colors. Not subdued and dark. Just my opinion though.

As for CTR are you talking about Adsense or Amazon? Work to better integrate your links into the blog. Make your Adsense "appear" as navigation and you'll see more clicks. Maybe try listing the Amazon products in a shopping cart format and discuss them in that manner?

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

Agree. The site looks like a tech blog.

You dont need to be a designer. This is a MASSIVE misconception in all industries that deal with 'design'(look). And in fact i think this is worthy of a new thread

Designers are good at design. Good at sales, marketing, business in general? Well thats a different story. Design is only one factor in our business.

I had a story recently where i had something designed on 99designs, some of the competing designers where ganging up on me and the winning designer saying we had no taste. And that may be right, but the design for me had to be practical and had to work. There is no point in having something that looks good but doesnt work, right?

IN the end all people i have asked about the site have only had positive things to say, with a few tips and pointers thrown in too.

But getting back to it. Yes the design needs to be changed, make it brighet, funner, healithier

I agree with BloggingPro - it is a bit on the dark side. Maybe use the same template except replace all the black with maybe a dark green? Something to make it seem more gloomy.

    Overall I like it though
