I hate videos, I know its just me, but I dont like to have to watch them. I would rather read. The reason being is my family is all around me while I work and I can tune them out when I read but I cant when watching a video. What makes me optin? Give me some real information I can use without opting in. Give away good information, not all the rehashed stuff I have seen before. If you keep giving me really great stuff, I will optin and I will buy. Mary |

...thanks for the input.. Does that mean that if the information is presented in a video... you more than likely would not opt in because you would more than likely click off as soon as you realized it was a video? |

I definitely prefer video... No longer than 2-3 minutes for an opt-in page Just tell me what it is, outline it quick, so I can tell if it's the exact thing I'm looking for. The main reason I opt-in is to download the free 'thingy' that lead me here in the first place. - Jared |

You have to ask yourself if 100% of your best prospects are on high-speed connections before you use video. For marketing to people who play online video games - they probably are. But for a lot of IM newbies - well, you'd be surprised at how many people are stuck with dialup because they CANNOT get broadband or because they have only used the 'net for email up to now. |

interesting thread... My new product is all video but I only include the "meat" and make sure each video is in sections with a description for each... so customers can come back and see exactly what they are looking for right away. Not to mention that keeping each video short and to the point allows everyone to watch - no matter how slow of a connection they may have. People hate long drawn out videos where its just a bunch of "umm's" & "ahhh's" with a captured screen and slightly moving mouse cursor. By mixing video of yourself and screen capture you can create something more effective than any text eBook but you have to do video right. I hope to change minds when I launch my next product and incorporate video more and more heavily over the years. |

I would rather have a document that I can print with a lot of screen shots. The videos are nice, but... when you want to go back and find one piece of information, it's impossible. Video sounds cooler, but in reality, I think something you can print and refer back to is better.

Hey Sean, The offer/content is key, but a sincere video or audio track can help push me over the edge to give up my info. ![]() ~Mike Cowles. <>< |

I do not like video either..I might like it if I had earphones close by but not really - I am too lazy to bother to play unless it is something really intriguing..and if so it better better be short. I have pressed on some before that just seem to drag on and not get to the point...which I think is another reason why I am put off of video. | |

I think there is more consistent quality in Copy. Especially because much of the content is "stock". However because of this, too many opportunities appear the same and you end up reading pages and pages of similarly worded stuff. With video, you have the chance to actually meet the person behind the site; and that carries, in my opinion, a lot of weight. The power of video can be lost with certain people, depending on personality, tone, delivery, etc. I prefer certain videos. But there is also a lot of people who would benefit from sticking to text. In conclusion I would say that it is usually a well made video, from someone charismatic that more often makes me opt in. T |

WHat makes ME opt-in? I rarely sign up to anything, 'cos I like my email box free of clutter! I only sign up to something if I HAVE to, using a secondary email address devoted to subscriptions, so my main email box doesn't distract me and allow me to think I'm working by reading other people's newslettters. Well, you did ask... |
