I have a client that's also a very good friend. She's going to be interviewed Thursday night on a national news magazine. The whole show is devoted to her and her business.
The problem is that her brand new web site is crap. What's worse is that I recommended the web designer.

1. Is it opssible to get a new web site up in time for a 11:30 TV show on Thursday night?
2. If not how can we take advantage of that exposure and traffic if we can't get a new decent site up in time.

    Gotta hate when that happens.

You really think it will generate that much of a traffic flow?

What is her site? This might help in giving some suggestions.

It's Nightline bro. I know there will be traffic.

Here's the site she has now.
    THE DDE GROUP

This is the kind of thing she wants
Mike Esterman - Celebrity Booking Agent

BTW I have a selfish motive in this as my affiliate link will be on the site. I'm a long time Warrior and the Warrior forum literally saved my business so I'm coming back for a second drink at the well and begging for Warrior help.

Do a Google search for Website templates. There is an endless supply of great looking, professionally done, Web site templates for sale, inexpensively. Choose one and put it up. Using the template and plugging in the text she already has can be done in a couple of hours, if that.

      Sure, you can do it.

But it is going to take some work to have it look like that other site.

As suggested, you do need a template.

I am assuming that you don't have to convince her to make this change. That might take the longest.

Better yet, get something like Flexsqueeze or Headway and just tweak the designs to match her color scheme and put her header into.

Honestly, what I would do is hire a coder to spruce up the site a little bit. A few things could really make that website look a lot better. You don't have to revamp the whole thing.

    Some things I would recommend:

Create icons to identify the points are commenting on. Some of the points I see on the front page: 1) We handle everything 2) we engage in the people we are advising 3) we are experienced

I would also up your line-height to 18 - 20 pixels so that everything doesn't look so cramped together.

I would implement some CSS on those links (blue or purple links = yuck!)

Remove the white background behind the facebook/twitter icons so that it looks like it belongs there.

Those are just a few things I would do and a decent coder worth their salt could do it in no time and for a very low amount.

Do you have/need videos to go on the site?

The sample site has videos plus several pages of content.

The site you want to make over looks to be a single page at the moment.

Do you want it to be a multi-page site before airtime, or do you just want a more presentable one-page site by then?

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Thanks guys. I've thought of sprucing up the site but my friend really hates it. At the very least we need a spot for videos and a form where people can place an order to book clients.
If you guys can recomend someone who can pull this off in time I'd aappreciate it.

This is what the client says she needs:

Home Page, Press Page w/ Pics, Video & Audio, Bookings Page (which is basically a form they fill out with a drop menu w/ clients names that when they fill out and submit it is emailed directly to us), Events, Contact

So it doesn't have to have aall thaat flash and pages thaat the saample site has but along those lines and way more professionaal looking.

Can be done IF you have the content, if I were you I would stick it in Joomla which seperates content from design, get a professional template from Shape5 or Joomlashack or the plethora of Joomla template clubs.

Joomla is a 1click install, you can outsource the copy paste to people on Fiverr.

Download extensions from Joomla extensions directory to do all the things we want done.

It may not be perfect but it can be made to look very professional. In the long term a CMS like Joomla or Drupal (Joomla has many more extensions) will mean your friend can update her own site.
