Google Keyword Tool Problem !!!???

HI everyone,

This is what I am encountering with the Googkle Keyword Tool:

In October I started working on my first information product. My longtail keyword showed good standing, low competition and over 300,000 searches per month worldwide.
In December it was still showing low competition but over 800,000 monthly searches.
Still in December, after Christmas the competition increased while the monthly search fall to 1,600.
Mid January the search count increased again to over 800,000 per month.
Today, 19 January it is back to 1,600.

I am puzzled and dont know what to think.

Did anyone of you encountered the same/similar issue with the Google Keyword Tool?

Thanks,

bubicaau

That's what I call a seasoned keyword, people search on that keyword at certain times.

      Thanks for the replay.

I woulnt agree that its a seasoned keyword. Its in the hobby/craft niche and
I accept that there can be fluctations in the search volume, but to that extent and why do we have a search volume of over 800,000 in the second week of Jan but than a fall in the 3rd week of Jan to 1,600.

Check the trends in google or in market samurai, if the trends match the numbers you see, then it might be real. If not, there might be some error that we don't know about.

Use Google Insight (from inside the keyword tool). You'll be able to check the trend in detail back to 2004. It can be pretty illuminating.
