Reputation Management strategy for a client

I have an offline client hired me for reputation management. He's got some ugly comments on a website he needs pushed back the third page.

My thinking is to post articles about him to web 2.0 sites and article submission sites then run link campaigns to those sites, eventually overwhelming the ugly posts that he wants removed.

I can also use social networking sites like linkedin and facebook and drive those to the tops of the SERPs as well.

Any thoughts or advice on this strategy?

linked in profile, facebook profiles, buy domain names (his name.com.net.org.biz.name...etc..and put some article or profile on them) digg and other web 2 properties...keep pumping up articles and web 2 profiles) , press releases...

Hopefully you might not even need the link campaigns.

I assume the "rogue" profile comes up for his name only and is not a "google bomb" type ( for example : put biggest moron in google and his name come up )

You say 3 pages....better try 10 ....just put as much stuff with his name on it as possible.

If he is not facing someone dedicated to ruin his reputation online then you should be ok otherwise be prepared for an arm (or should I say SEO) race between the parties.

    Good Luck

    Hi

It sound like you are are the right tracks, make sure you have commenting on the site set to "needs to be approved".

Building the links you talked about will help over time, but to boost someone's reputation I would start a new social media campaign.

Check out the sites Ping.fm can link too, and use as many as you can handle, only let previous loyal followers know about this.

Also another tip would be find on topic forums at bigboards.com, backlinks from on topic website hold a lot more weight with the search engines.

Build your links from as many different domains as you can ie: 1000 post here will no where near be as productive for rankings as 1000 seperate sites.

I hope this helps a little.

    Good luck
