Are you making money on Squidoo ?

Hi

I have been using squidoo for over a year now and have had some success, but have seem to hit all wall.

Traffic and sales have dropped a lot this month, I know it is just after Christmas and all that, but not many of my lenses were Christmas related.

Are any other lensmaster here seeing the same stats ?

How can seasonal drops in traffic be avoided ?

Please share your wisdom to help out fellow squids in the future.

My top lens ironically is the one in my "sig", advising people how to make money with squidoo .... go figure.

Regards

Danny

I abandoned squidoo a while back because I wasn't seeing as much traffic.

It depends how you are approaching it. Are you just setting up the lenses and then leaving them and hoping for traffic? Or once set up are you then driving backlinks and traffic to your lens using other methods such as article marketing, video marketing, etc?

Also, the obvious way to minimize dry spells like you are experiencing is to do a wide range of lenses that cover a wide range of different niches. Also don't just stick to one website because if Google decides to change something and those rankings go down for that one site, so will your income.

    **EDIT**

I just had a quick look at your lens and to me there just appears to be too many options for your visitors to leave your lens. There are Google Ads, InfoLink Ads, Polls, Flickr photos, Amazon Ads, Chitika Ads, and various other links you have for other products and services. You need to disable as many ads on that page as possible (you can do this in your account) and concentrate on only trying to send people to one or two (3 at the most) different products or services.

Remember, any other links on that page that are not to do with the product you are trying to promote will only have a negative impact on your conversions. Keep it nice and simple, easy to follow, and don't give people too many options to leave your page. Right now your lens resembles a piece of Swiss cheese with little holes all the way through it. Plug those holes and your conversions should be much better. You will earn next to nothing from having all those ads enabled - they are not worth the damage they cause to your conversions.

You really want to know what is ironic? Squidoo was started by a marketer for marketers, who now hates marketers.

Hahaha Squido does it still exist? I left Squido some time back it wasn't really giveing me what I had expected.

In fact now that you brought it up I think I will go back and have a look at what my lenses there have become.

Never made really any thing out of Squido.

Squidoo is just like any other service out there - be it Hubpages, a free blog, or your own hosted blog. The same principles to making money on squidoo apply to any other type of page. So by saying you can't make squidoo work simply means you are not doing a good enough job of pre-selling and/or getting traffic to your lens. This is NOT a problem with the service (Squidoo) but a problem with the user. There are plenty of people making a lot of money using squidoo - trust me.

Squidoo is helpful in creating backlink and getting more traffic but I don't think if it is good way to earn money.

Great idea to minimize click out options, of course click outs go a long way in lensrank payouts. But I have to agree, using a lens more as a landing page, would work better.

I do build a lot of links for lenses and everything was fine for traffic but since all of the messing around HQ have been doing ie: monsters and categories, things have dropped off.

Thank god my other online marketing does not have periodic dips and troughs.

Its a shame because the community are great !

I didn't make any money off Squidoo, but I admit I wasn't really into the site. There are so many sites like Squidoo, it's really a matter of preference. As someone else already said, it's more about the work you put into it, rather than the platform you use.
