Giving ebooks for free

The baby is blessedly not crying and not sleeping in my arms right now, so I have a chance to ask something I've been thinking about.

Can anyone offer advice or resources about giving ebooks away and making money through the affiliate links in the book? It's something I've been thinking about recently. I think it may work well for some of my niches.

Do you list them in free ebook directories? Simply give it away on your site? Success or failure stories?

I'm going to thank you in advance because I'm not sure when the next time I can write is. I can read the forums with the baby in my lap, but can't type so well.

    I used a cool drop-in, opt-in box with the ebook cover on it to attract subscribers. It produced a high signup rate. So high I had to disable the email notifications.

    Free ebooks is a great way to collect list and drive traffic. In order to turn your free ebook into an viral marketing tool and generate unstoppable leads for you, all you need is EXPOSURE. Advertise your free ebooks using article, via forum, PPC, etc..

    You may want to insert some useful resources at the end of the ebook and cloak it with your affiliate links.

    This is very effective ways, once start it can't be stopped !

    I haven't tried this technique but I have heard of it. It doesn't hurt to give it away. Also mention to other people that they can give it away or sell it. Do lots of promotion on the book and wait for it to go viral. Once it does, then watch the money come rolling in. The only bad part of this technique is having to wait for the money to come in.

    Step 1 - Create an ebook with great content in it. Plug in affiliate links at the end of each chapter or put in the links in a contextual way (hyperlinking key words in the text). Give 'giveaway rights' to your ebook. A simple sentence at the beginning of the ebook like 'You have giveaway rights to this publication. You may distribute it freely as long as the content is not changed.'

    Step 2 - Create a squeeze page to collect leads with an autoresponder.

    Step 3 - Market the site like crazy!

    Hi Shannon

    You should turn the ebook into a minisite powered by something like butterfly marketing or launch formula marketing scripts.

    You can then place a relavent OTO to your report and monetize the whole process of giving the report away. Doing it this way everyone who downloads your report will be given an affiliate link so they can give away the report and earn commission on your OTO.

    Hope this gives you some ideas.
