Hello WF members, I know WF is incredibly useful community. I have learnt a lot from WF. I am in IM from last few months. I want to build my lists now as it's the asset of every Internet Marketer.

I have few questions in my mind:
1. How essential is list building? Do you think, people will buy my product everytime whenever I send an email to them. Obviously, I should have something useful.
2. What loss I will bear, If I do NOT make any email list?
3. I am a newbie so can't afford something paid in list building solutions like Aweber. Can you please tell me free solution or atleast a cheaper solution for collecting, managing and SENDING emails, which accepts PayPal? Because, I don't own a Credit Card But I will get a CC, soon.

Thank you so much!

    1. Essential
    2. No, the amount of sale depends on how loyal your list is to you and how much of a relationship ou have built with your list but 100% conversions never happens. Some list have as low as 2% and some as high as 40% conversions.
    3. Umm find a free webform script when the submit button sends to your e-mail lol then build a address book group??

Ok still not what you want but I know of nothing that is free or less money...honestly aweber is your best bet and $20 shouldn't be a lot...if it is right now, you probably are very fresh to IM and need to explore free methods to build up some money....

First off, I want to say the biggest mistake I made over the years was underestimate how important a list really is. Now that I know, I wanna say that your entire IM business rest in how well your list is build and how well you take care of your list. Yes building your list is very very important if you want to run your IM business long term.

Yes, no one want to receive promo after promo after promo. So you need to send your list quality relevant information at least once a week.

Don't try to save on things like a email system...they are literally the bread and butter of running your biz. Having said that, consider alternative such as imnicamail (I am using) or mailchimp...they cost lesser....

Hope the above information is useful....

Fated and Robbeh pretty much gave you all the answers you need, so I'll add just some stuff I learned over the years.

If you focus your business on building long-term assets and not short-term profits you're going to be on a path to long-term success and more importantly long-term security.

What I mean is that if you invest your time and money into getting people to your list AND building relationship with them, you are building a solid asset for your business. One that cannot disappear so easily.

So, yes, build a list, especially if you're goal is to create and provide value in a field of your expertise.

If you devote your time to providing substantial value to your market, your list will practically build itself.

Then you can enjoy conversions as high as 40% when you do a promotion of your own stuff or other people's stuff.

Oh and one more thing - if you're serious about this then think really hard about choosing your autoresponder service. I strongly suggest that you invest those $20/month in a professional service like Aweber. I think they even have a $1 trial.

Choosing your autoresponder before hand is very very important since it's much harder to switch between them once your list gets bigger.

    Take care,

    ~Davor

Thank you for your quick response guys!
I acknowledge that list is important. As you are recommending Aweber, so now my only problem is I don't own a CC, is there any service that accepts PayPal?

Something that you should consider is that building a BUYER list can be even more profitable than a FREEBIE list who you try to sell stuff to later on.

Get a plr course that is normally sold for high dollar, alternate it so its your own, and sell it cheap, like $2-$5.

On the thank you page give them a one time offer of something a little more valuable and expensive before they can download their course.

Now you will build a list that you already knows spends money from you. It will be that much easier to sell them stuff down the road as you build a relationship with them.

    1. It's very essential because it gives you a market to build a relationship with. I don't think people will buy your product every time. Nobody buys products every time. However, your conversion rate will be higher if you focus on delivering valuable information for free.

    2. The loss of not building a list will be that you are always getting new visitors to your website that don't know you or trust you. The main reason why email marketing works is because you have the ability to deliver as much value as you want. This results in friendships and people liking you which leads to a higher conversion rate when you recommend products.

    3. If you can't afford to pay for aweber or a good autoresponder, then it's not worth getting into the business right now. Having a good autoresponder is critical to sustaining a long term business. You need good deliverability rate. You may want to try making money through doing freelance type jobs for other people or a backlink service.

You can try "The Forever Free Plan Store up to 1,000 subscribers. Send up to 6,000 emails a month." of MailChimp. Then if you can afford the more expensive one later, move on. At least start with something free... well 'cheap'.

In my opinion, when you want to make your subscriber make any sale, don't offer any product in the first few emails. Instead, give valuable information, free stuffs and so on. The happier them with the first impressions you made, the easier for you to convince them when your promotion email comes to their inbox. Give quality offers and you way will be smoother. Good luck!

I just signed up for MailChimp's free service the other day to see what they're like.

So far, I'm very impressed. I'm going to build a small test list to see how well they deliver, etc...but their template system, list segmenting, the web app that lets you build the email campaigns, etc are all well designed.

They also have a good selection of PDF guides on a variety of email marketing/design topics.

And there's a neat feature that lets you set delivery times for different time zones.

Say you know 7pm local time is the best time to deliver your niche's messages. You can schedule the email to be sent at 7pm in London for London subscribers...and 7pm in San Diego for San Diego subscribers.

I have no affiliate relation to them, so check into their free 1000 subscriber level. By the time you get to 1000 subscribers, you should have enough money coming in to cover their next level of service so you can build a bigger list.
