Have Some Tech Questions On Rapid Action Profits

Please don't move this to product reviews. I am not asking if the product is
any good or not. I have some tech questions that I'd like answered and
since there isn't a technical sub forum, I believe this is the best place to
ask.

Essentially, this is what I want to do.

I want to create a PDF and in it place a link to a product that will direct
the person to a sales page and then, if they make a purchase, the person
who sold the PDF that contains the link gets credit for the sale.

Can RAP do this and if so, how?

I'd like to know before I sink $197 into something that I may not be able
to use since I already have DLGuard for download protection.

Thanks for your assistance to this technically challenged marketer.

    Yes.

First, the affiliate cookie is placed on the customer's machine when they visited the sales page for the PDF. A natural link from the PDF (vanilla, non-affiliate link) to any other RAP-driven sales page on that domain, would pick up the cookie and give referral credit to the original affiliate.

This only works, of course, if the visitor has not deleted cookies.

RAP DOES NOT automatically brand the links in the PDF with your affiliate's link.

    Hope this helps,

You could also set up a mechanism that brands the PDFs with affiliate links. That would ensure the referring affiliate gets credit, whereas "hope" that the original cookie is still in place is going to fade over time.

    Steven,

There's a script you can place on your server that you can send your affiliates to, and they can enter their affiliate name and click a button and the server will "brand" the PDF with their affiliate link. You just have to set the PDF up with a "merge" word so the script knows where to insert the affiliate name.

Is that something like you want to do? I don't recall the name of the script offhand, but I did bookmark it to purchase it later. I can try to find it if that's what you want to do.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.
