Suggestions for Camera With Video

Hi all - I've fallen behind in keeping up with the latest digital technology and now am in the market for a new Digital camera.

I've noticed some exceptionally clear videos coming from different marketers - latest I came across was from Tellman Knudson I believe, where they mentioned it wasn't a movie camera, but used the video capability on a digital camera.

Anyone have recommendations on a preferred digital camera that will produce very good movie results as well?

Thanks much...

Jeff

I just ordered a Flip Mino camcorder from WalMart after seeing a rather good "testimonial video" in the reviews section. It's about $170 with tax and right now has $.97 shipping.

You don't need to spend a lot to get great quality video...

I bought two identical mini-DV widescreen cameras (I do lots of interviews) for around the US$230 mark each.

My only complaint is that the audio needs to be cleaned up as you get the annoying DV tape hum...

So definitely get something with an external microphone input - you'll save yourself heaps of work and get far more professional audio.

For a great video check out this post:

This guy says he's bought around $200,000 worth of camera gear and gives a really great easy to follow review. (around 25 minutes long)

The mineo's cool - like the Casio, but see your point with the limitation of no external mic jack.

I have a 3CCD Panasonic DV camera which does a nice job, just thought since I need a new camera anyway, I would look at some of the new hybrids.

      Thanks,

      Jeff

I'm planning to get the HV20 or the new HV30 I've read a ton of reviews and these one really are first class...

But I have a quick question for you Jason... if you record with the Canon HV20 and then put the video on YouTube will it fit completely and not leave any borders on the new 16:9 screen size they have now?

          Thanks in advance man,
