Interesting Idea - Star Rating for Article Quality...

I came across something I found very interesting while working on a project and thought I'd share it with you guys.

At Textbroker.com they have a five star rating system for their articles (and writers). They don't use the 1 star, but they rate the others like this:

** Legible
*** Good
**** Excellent
***** Professional

I won't go into the tiered payment schedule or how you qualify for assignments based on your rating, because I'm focusing on what a simple and reliable rating sytem this is. I was just wondering why I hadn't seen something like it before.

I'm sure I'm probably the only one who wants to run out and adopt this industry wide, but it seems like a good way to evaluate the quality of the writing services available (within limits, of course).

What do you think?

    Hey Steve,

I like the idea, only problem is my idea of what constitutes quality may be drastically different from yours.

vBulletin does have an inbuilt rating system called itrader but it is open to abuse and I am sure the mods have better things to do than remove false ratings and feedback from people trying to sabotage others.

    Chris,

I wasn't necessarily talking about an automated system or one involving the forum, more of a semi-standardized article rating sytem for writers and customers to use maybe.

Continuing the textbroker example, clients can go there and order X number of 4 star articles if they need better quality, or maybe they just want 2 star articles for backlinks.

Just thinking out loud I guess.
