I've made a list on accident - need ideas for how to make money from it

I'll save you guys from the whole "first time poster, new newbie" speech and get right to it.

When I first started internet marketing (although I didn't know that was what I was doing back then) I was only 12. I was determined to get an iPod, but I didn't have any money. So I found a website that will let you sign up and complete offers or get referrals and you will win an iPod. I'm sure you've seen many of those types of sites on the web.

However, this site was actually legit. I created a little blogger page, explained to people how they could win an iPod, and ask them to sign up under me. Two weeks latter I had enough referrals and the iPod was shipped to my house. But I didn't stop there. I started promoting my websites more, getting more people to sign up under me. I started getting free iPods regularly which I then sold on eBay for about $150 each. Which isn't bad for a 12 year old who didn't know anything about marketing.

I tell you all that to tell you this. Over the years, I've had thousands of people sign up under me. And that means I have each and every one of their emails. I'm not sure how targeted the list is, but I assume people who are willing to sign up for one of those "get an ipod free" sites wouldn't be against buying an ebook or something like that.

My question is does anybody have any ideas how i can make money off of a list like that. I know a lot about marketing, but most of what i've been doing up to now has been heavily based on Adsense. I don't have any products to sell, and I'm not part of any affiliate programs.

Oh, and I still get 3-5 new emails each day.

Please excuse the spelling and grammar errors.

This seems like such a weird situation, why don't you send out surveys to your list?

You can ask them questions, find out what they are interested in, from there you can think of different ways to monetize your list.

Another solution I can think of is to send your list to CPA offers.

Since they are unlikely to buy anything, they most probably will want to sign up for more Free stuff etc. So you can look for CPA offers that you can monetize from.

    Just my 2 cents...

Surveys seem a great way to discover what your list likes and doesn't like. Then you can perhaps sign up to a series of suitable affiliate programmes and start mailing what will then be a segmentalised list with a mix of "buy my stuff" and "hey, guess what? I saw this and thought of you" mailings.

    Hey Bigjara.
Pretty savy for a 12 year old! good work.

Just a quick thought off the top of my head....
Sounds like the people on your list are specifically after an i pod OR they are keen to get freebies, either way sounds to me you have your first product....

Ask them if they want to know how to get LOADS more stuff for free!

Then put together all the methods you have used to A: get your free stuff
and B: build your list in doing so.
And that is your product! £12 ebook (for example) Or for more percieved value you could make a DVD or the likes, showing same.

Or maybe serialise it if you have quite a few sources... "free stuff sources of-the- month club"
    subscription site. £ 4 - 9 / month ?

    Could make a few quid.... 1000 = £4k - 9k .... per month or more!

    ..... Just a quick idea.

Obviously If you didn't ask their permission to contact them in future mailings you should only drop them the one message,...... then the ones who sign up from that can be your 'propper' (legit') list who you may contact again.
    (Always ad 'opt out' details)

    Hope this helps a little.
    Steve.

Yeah i agree with you guys. Survey is a sure way to know why they are signing up and also you can get more ideas from them and monetize it.
