Dont try to build you IM in one day.

This is one mistake that me and some others made when they started on internet marketing.

Working on Lots of Projects using different techniques to build your Business when you are just a newbie will just help you to quit from the Internet Marketing Business .

The idea is to make everything simple and work step by step to reach every goal.

A good tip is to schedule every task for hours and days and don't try to put so many task in the same day because you could finish doing none of them.

Internet Marketing is not different than any task or something we learned before.

Remember when we first started on School, we first started to learn from 1+1=2 then 1*2=2 and until the point that you reach to do some more difficult math.

So if you feel overwhelmed my advice is to build a good schedule and start to split every task on very simple steps.

This is the Original Article.

  • Amen! If I could just get people to realize that they have to focus on one thing for at least 3-6 months, there would be a lot less people asking 'how do I make money' questions on here. Of course I don't mind the questions, we all have to start somewhere, but people need to realize that building an IM business takes time.

Very true. With all this information out there (build your own site! promote affiliate products in lots of niches! start your own business! write ebooks!) it's almost difficult for an eager newbie to not want to try it all! But if they don't focus on one or two main things in the beginning, they are setting themselves up to fail in most cases..

Some great advice! Information overload is a true battle for internet marketers...you can get stuck motionless thinking you need to read yet another "how to" guide or do a different project and never get anywhere.

The problem out there is that we get bombarded of lots of offers of " The NEW Method" or " The new Loop Hole of Google" and they try everything out there and then after not sticking with one system they will drop out of Internet Marketing without any sucess.

So guys stick with the basic concept and stay away from the method that people claim to be making huge amount of money from scratch on just a few days online .

I agree. Instead of jumping around like a madman trying 100 different methods, pick one you like the look of and KNOW works for other people (that's the key)... then work it until it starts to work for you!

Just like if you opened up a restaurant, it would not take one day to get everything in place. You first need marketing, you need customers, and most important you need a business plan. Taking more than a day to figure this out would be ideal to a successful business.

Yeah thats what we dont understand when we start on this business, maybe because we discover internet marketing while surfing online and the first thing we see is a guru claiming to be making huge amount of money without any effort in few days... , so we start to see what if they guy could make this happen in few days and im not able.

The thing is that everything was a lie for buying from him...

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Don’t count your chicks before they hatch.

There are many more over used clichés that advise people to take their time and focus on consistency instead of speed.

The amazing thing is there is a lot of truth behind those sayings.

Internet Marketing is not a race; it is more of a marathon.

In the early days of the internet boom, fortunes were literally made over night. Unfortunately we are no longer in 1997.

The problem is people still have that misconception about the internet.

Yes, it is possible to “get rich quick,” but it’s not probable.

When you consider the fact that a vast majority of business can’t even survive past the first three years, is it too much to ask to work patiently for a few month before you even start seeing any profits?

You are right, on every point you talked about, Internet Marketing is a very good business and for me the easiest one because you really dont need much money for starting on it, but some consistence and taking action is needed.

Like you said on 1997 what you everybody starting and online customers wasnt that smart than right now, also the system if harder but this is not a bad for internet marketers. I think this way is better so only the people who really work and try their best make money online and grow their business online.

For those who try to quit Internet marketing , stop thinking about that, internet marketing is real but you have to find the right education and the right way of marketing online and it takes some time to build your own formula...

I agree. Internet Marketing is a real business just like every other business. It does however allow some of us to work from home, at that is great. I strongly recommend anyone starting out in internet marketing to not go out and buy every EBook or How to Book on the market. There are literally thousands, and many of them just repear the same old thing. Be commited to just one thing at a time and focus on that one thing. Like maybe getting your first Wordpress Blog up and running.

When you become an Internet Marketer, you're not just building a business, you're building a career.

If you want a career in professional sports, you first learn how to play that sport. Then you build on that foundation by training and playing, then you train and play some more. Without putting in the time and focus to become really good at it, your desire to be a professional athlete will be nothing more than a pipe dream.

In the entertainment industry, an in depth interview with virtually any "overnight" success will uncover years of training and hard work. There was nothing "overnight" about it!

The same is true of IM.

Pick a niche--preferable not the IM niche--then pick one formula/system (i.e. article marketing, Amazon affiliate, etc). Learn as you go, but concentrate only on that one formula/system until you're making money at it.

Then repeat that success in another niche, and build on each success.

Once your business is established and you have a steady income, you can afford to branch out and try another formula/system.

And remember the fable of the tortoise and the hare!

      Respectfully,
      -Anita

I couldn't agree more, Anita. There's really no such thing as an overnight success story, whether it is in IM, sports or showbusiness.

There is merely the illusion of it, but when you delve deeper, you'll usually find many years of practice and toiling before the "quick" rise to fame that the public sees.

You've made a great point about not entering the IM niche. I have noticed that newbies absolutely love to gravitate to that niche, and this is perhaps why the failure rate is so high. It's probably the hardest niche in which to generate sustainable and consistent income unless you're prepared to work hard and for an extended period of time at it. It's very unlikely that the average newbie will have the wherewithal or patience to do this.

Concentrate on only one system/method at a time and get good at it. Once you get good, you can scale it up and then move on to the next system/method only after you've seen tangible success with the first. This may seem daunting at first, but after a while it'll become fun and interesting to tackle new niches and systems/methods - you'll actually look forward to this once you get the hang of the process.

Thanks for the great advice, especially about mastering one method successful and then that confidence of success onto another.

As a newbie who has just been doing IM for 3 weeks, when I bought my one and only Ebook, although it was completely plain and honest, I went to my partner and regurgitated everything, like I was a possessed zombie haha! Lucky she knocked some sense into me, that I wanted to do too much.

Alot of times you need to consciously tell yourself "patience is a virtue", because its easy for your mind too be scattered especially if your a big dreamer like me.

And just like in any form of growth there is a lag phase were you have mature, adapt & LEARN to all the new information, before the exponential increase comes.

And to add to what Aldovacano said, there's a lot of free and really valuable content about getting started for free on this forum. It's not always a good a idea spending money on IM products when you're just a newbie because you easily get caught into the HEADING.
Learn from what's available already, learn from experiences and then steadily go pro.

Learning the basic s of Internet Marketing will be always much better than buying a clickbank product with just a few videos and then you are at your own , With just few videos and pdf dont think you could dominate Online marketing.

For that it takes some community support , taking action ,lots of errors to discover what really works for you...

For example. if someone think that if you read a book on how swimming you could go to the deep on your very first time and swim?

Well Internet marketing is just like that....

To be honest though, it so hard to keep this frame of mind when you go to forums and you see "MAKE $2000 IN A MONTH" and from their advice it seems like you have to be glued to your laptop all day.

Yeah you are right, also another thing we need to take care of is that sometimes , our system is not working and some people start thinking the idea of this is not real and quit, but the thing is that they could be quitting when they just need to fix it a little bit and the money will start to show up!

I think this is an issue in so many parts of the online world. I have been interviewing a lot of people this month and virtually everyone has said that the KEY to making a BUSINESS (notice I did not say a JOB) online is to focus on one thing at a time. For women, multi-tasking often comes naturally. While that is a great thing in our normal, daily lives, it can be a detriment online. So, yes, focus is key. Pick something and see it through all the way to completion!
