water mark and edit video

I want to put a water mark on my video and also I wan to edit the video. like cut some part of it.
does any body know where I can get a free tool that is easy to use that can do this.
I dont want to go out and buy a super video editing software to do this since i only going to used once

any help is welcome

    What kind of water mark are you looking to make? Most basic video software like iMovie and MovieMaker can put text atop of video. There are some gimmicks you can do to overlay PNGs too.

    just some basic text on the video that be there for the whole duration of the video

      As previous posters already mentioned, if you are on Windows you can go with Movie Maker, if you are on Mac you can go with iMovie. Both should allow you to overlay an image on top of the video, and you might want to reduce the image's opacity to give it a transparent look.

    u can just use the text tool, if you want a logo or something better use a photo editing tool and make the design/text with a transparent background save as .png and add it on a layer above the video

    Camtasia Studio also has a watermark facility.
