Hi guys,

I currently use Amazon S3 to upload all the videos I produce for courses. The challenge I have is that the more they're watched the more it costs me and the costs are becoming astronomical!

I've been looking for a cheaper solution and I came across Vimeo which charges $59.95 a year and you can upload 5GB/week and you can have full domain level privacy.

Therefore I'm thinking this is a fantastic solution! I was just wondering if there are packages like this out there, why do so many people use Amazon S3, is there something I'm missing??

Thanks for your help!

Just wondering what are the sizes of your videos on the s3 servers and how much bandwidth are using monthly? Reason I ask is you gotta be doing serious streaming to be eating lots of bandwidth. Have you checked to make sure that your buckets are secure and its not just some momo's freeloading your content somehow?

I don't know how you serve real streaming video, with random seek capability, etc. from S3, there must be better performing streaming video services.

One problem for many with Vimeo:

    Noncommercial use only
If you need a site to power your business' videos, please try one of the many commercial video hosts out there. We remove commercial content that violates our Guidelines without warning.

Another consideration is people sharing the download link. For S3, a WP plugin is available that will cause the link to expire depending on how you set things up.

Hey Jo, is that your monthly usage? if so that is a lot. How big are your video files? Are you streaming video from a public blog, a members area, or is that downloadable content?
