Hey Warriors? I have some pdf ebooks that I want to edit and then save them back as pdf. Is there a software or somehting that can do this?

In other words is it possible to edit or make changes to existing PDFs withough first converting it to Word and then back to PDF again?

Why can't you just edit the source files and then save the edited files as PDFs?

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

PDFescape.com is what you need. You can white out, make links, change text, etc.

Yeah, you just need to enable Javascript in your browser, and go. It is free to use.

I've used PDFescape.com several times, it's great. However I think it really depends on to what extent you want to edit the pdf.

Personally when it comes to editing any moderately sized body of text, I convert to word then back to pdf - I find this to be much easier and quicker than anything else.

      TO OP:

      RE: Quote in this post.

In which case PDFzilla will do the trick. The PDF to txt version and the PDF to .doc is around $30 if I remember correctly.

They used to give a free copy of the .doc converter in exchange for a link back. You might still find that, that's how I got mine. Google pdfzilla free and see what happens.

I use Open Office 3.2. It is a free software you can download. Just do a google search for Open Office 3.2 and you can then download. Hope this helps.

The question is not really whether it's possible or not.

The real question is: do you have the rights (copyright?) to do the edits?

      Hi Istvan,

You did the right question. That is what everyone should ask from himself - before he converts the work of other people. This is not a major concern for all. Unfortunately.

I feel, the OP is incomplete, from this perspective.

But, if you want to convert your own work then go for it. Do that on that way as you like. Tools are existing for using.

      Cheers,

      Sandor

  • Try this site, you upload the pdf, and then then email it back to you as a word doc. You can then use the office add in to convert it back. I did this about 3 days a go.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! PDFescape is something I'll check out. It maybe what I am looking for.

@DC Rinnert, if I had the source files I won't have posted this thread in the first place. Thanks for your input.

@I Horvath, the real question is what I originally asked in the first place. I have rights to edit my OWN PDFs, I just want to know which software to use. Thanks for your input.

My personal favorite PDF tool is Nitro PDF Professional.

Been using it for years and I actually love it better than Adobe Acrobat.

I have used Foxit PDF editor in the past.

Happened to me with a load of pdfs I was sending in a membership deal. I needed to alter some of them but found that I had deleted the source files months before in one of my massive hard disk purges i like to call a Springclean

Why don't you copy the the pdf to word, edit it in word and publish as pdf?

There's add-in to save word as pdf. Go to your word, click on the ribbon button, hover to save-as and there'll be option to find add-in to save as pdf and xps. You'll be redirected to microsoft's website to download it. The size is fairly small, 500kb only.

You didn't say originally it was your PDF product - and the logical way is to edit the source you used to create the PDF.

If the work is yours, this should be easy as others have said.

If it is not and the work is secured and password protected, you may run into a problem.

I have this software PDF2Word. You just have to convert the original PDF into .docx - edit it- convert it back to PDF. Believe, the edited version'd look exactly the same, no watermarks, nothing.. no glitches, whatsoever.
