I'm thinking about starting to write an e-Book, to bring in a little extra money, if I'm lucky. I haven't written one before, but I've done quite a few articles.

Just wondering what topic in the writing category would be the best to start from? Improving writing style, or just general writing tips? I'm in the proofreading business, so I thought writing would be a good topic to start with. Do you think that would get sales?

Thanks for any info,
Jake.

  • The #1 mistake noobies make with ebooks is they write one before they have an audience.

Build an audience first, then write for them.

Think about who you are writing this for. How will you market it? Once you figure that out, you can look at your target audience and figure out what they want, what works and what doesn't in that niche.

Hello, you say you are in the proofreading business. Is that your day job and you make enough doing that to support you/your family? Or are you needing this ebook to supplement your proofreading income? Or would the book income be a hobby for you? What are your financial goals?

Folks who write articles for article marketing are writing at a totally different level and style than paid authors. I assume you are proofreading material that was paid to be written?

Books that teach people how to write articles FASTER are useful to internet marketers. Plus ones that show how to create attention-grabbing titles. And most important, how to generate clickthroughs from a bio box.

I think if you covered those three topics, you could find your audience.

      Thanks Diane,

That seems like a good idea to me, I imagine there will be a decent market for an e-book like that. Any money I make off it will be a bonus I suppose, just wanted to get something out there that would make a bit of money, only at the expense of the initial effort.

It's really just a trial thing, but I think I will take your advice and start some research.

      Thanks again,
      Jake.
