Minisite Video Tutorials

Hi,

I am in early stages of creating a series of detailed video tutorials on how to fully create your own minisite graphics in photoshop from scratch.

Aimed at people of any level the step by step approach will cover header, footer, content area, order button and graphical dotpoint (the most common elements of most minisites)

Basically I'm just looking for a bit of feedback from fellow warriors!

As some of you may know I am the extrovert reclusive half of Graphics Genie, Darren being a regular poster around these parts, so it wont be just a run of the mill rubbish minisite I am talking about.

Some examples of our work

-Do you think it would be something you or others would be interested in?
-Anything you would like to see included other than the aforementioned?

I would be interested. You guys do some great work.

Something you may consider. A lot of people won't have photoshop. I do, so it would be a great help to me.

Perhaps I could do a similar series at some point for GIMP, its a great little free to download software package, I'd just need some time with it to get my head around how it works!

I'd be interested in your tutorials and just as interested in you doing a mini site or 2 for me, very lovely, slick looking graphics. Do you currently have a WSO for this? What are your rates?

Hi John,

No it wasnt a mistake, its just an extra addition to the other mountains of ideas we have. Been this has got some good feedback, my only worry is making more competition for us designers!!

  I was thinking of doing a 72 hour special, with the forex exchange rate in our favour for $147 a minisite, but I know how quickly the spots would be taken up.

  A quick bit of advice on how to make an effective tutorial presentation for this kind of material:
  
  "Show The Last Thing First"...
  
  When doing a How-To video (especially with a complex software program), many folks make the mistake of opening the program, and then starting to go through the entire process of showing how to create something...
  
  Start your presentation by showing what the end result looks like FIRST!
  
  Something like a quick..."This is what we're going to be creating".
  
  And also...you're a creative individual...do something creative
  
  Find a way to interject some humor, or something visually interesting, deviate from the "normal tutorial" route in some way...do something unexpected and you will end up with tutorials that sell themselves.
  
  Here's an example of a rather complex subject that incorporates these elements:
  
  Screencast Profits - Branding with custom Camtasia Flash preloaders
  
  Notice how I "Show the Last Thing First" to grab the viewers attention but more importantly...this puts the final image in their mind and for the rest of the video, they can "see themselves" moving toward that end goal.
  
  You do great work and I'm looking forward to whatever you put out!
