Video: producing your own content or outsourcing?

Warriors, you all know video marketing is becoming an essential part of your promotion strategies.

I have a background in video production, but what are the rest of you doing for your content?

Video isn't that quick to produce (to a high standard anyway), do you outsource or save money and do it yourself?

Last year all my products was eBooks, this year I plan to create or video and audio products, are so much quick to do and the value perceived by the buyer it's higher.

My main concern is the delivery method, because I will release a new video product with more than 4 hours long, but I'm for sure I will figure something.

And of course I prefer to do it my self, because I can include some real good content that I only know (I mean its difficult somebody with less experience can do the same), I have great reviews of my videos because I spill all the beans.

      Hi Yadira,

Didn't you think already to transform your video product to a course? Let's say, you make 10 smaller video, about 24 minutes per piece. That way could be your income better, and people (including myself) prefer to watch shorter videos.

      Just thinking out loud...

      Many successes,

      Sandor

        Hi Sandor,

Actually its an entire course. All the course include 20 videos, and all together are more than 4 hours of training course.

And each video have the description on the name, so people can know about what is that particular video, and maybe return to watch it again.

Thanks for you opinion, I'm always open to good advice.

        Yadira

Both. I can make some great videos, but I have a guy on contract who can make even better. It just depends on what is needed for the project.

I have a video production background, as well, but I learned quickly that professional looking videos convert far less than quick "real" people videos. That was a tough pill to swallow, given my background, but these days I am happy to produce quick talking head videos and forgo the tedious editing process.

That is an interesting insight, and many newbs should take note.

I am tossing up which way to go, and I think you have just answered my question.

      Many thx.

Depends on what kind of video I have to product. If its a simple promotion video
with loads of effects or a nasty presentation video with background ppt n music etc,
I outsource but if it's for my blog or products or tutorials, I do it myself.

Thanks to Camtasia Studio & Live Movie Maker that editing isn't a difficult task now.

If it's a video I'm making to explain something then I do it personally because how is the video producer mean to know?

If it's for a promotion, then it's outsourced to somoene who knows what they are doing

It depends on the video in question. If it was something to be put up on my sales page or in the sales funnel, I'd definitely do my own videos, as it'd be pretty strange to have someone else do that for me.

On the other hand, if it was just something to be posted on Youtube that linked back to one of my sites and it was fairly simple in terms of content, that's something I'd definitely consider outsourcing.

I used to do professionally-looking videos with green screen and I even bought a $3,000 camera. Now I just use my iPhone! Unless you're going to an Andy Jenkins type of production, just do it yourself for now--THEN...when you're making lots of money, have someone do it for you so you don't need to be a video editor. I now use Camtasia to edit and my videos are done in no time!

I have alot of money invested in video gear (non IM related reasons) so I have the luxury of choosing what style of production to produce.

Do you still create the professional looking videos to accompany the iPhone ones, or are you sticking purely to the lower end? How is it working out for you?

It takes me a while to make videos, but up to date I haven't yet outsourced on it, mainly because it's cheaper if I make it myself.
