Hosting a domain bought at name.com on hostgator

This is an easy one. (I hope.)

I usually buy domains from Name.com for forwarding to hoplinks. But this time I actually want to start my own site.

So I purchased a domain from Name.com, but purchased hosting from Hostgator. Do I have to do anything else other than change the name servers on the registrar, in order to have the two talk to each other?

Also, how long does it usually take for the site to be live after changing the name servers?

I use name.com plus hostgator all the time and all that is needed is the name servers changed then domain added on your hosting

It usually takes around 5 mins whenever i do a new site it really is quick.

I've never had a domain propagate in 5 minutes. Takes a minute to make the change but then it has to propagate across the web. Mine take from a few hours to a full 24 hrs at times.

With hostgator there are excellent tutorials that explain all of this "stuff".

January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.
