Creating Videos -Best Screen Capturing Software

i'm looking for a good free or relatively cheap screen capturing software to create .ppt videos with. I've tried Jing and it looked good but something was up with my computer settings and i can't download it fully because it requires another to run with it and i kept getting download errors.

anyways

anyone recommend any others?

A good free screen capture software is CamStudio - Free Screen Recording Software

Of course, you could always download Camtasia and use it all you want during the 30-day trial

Camtasia is far and away the best IMHO. It's not free, but (as Kevin says) they do have free 30 day trial period which is plenty of time to make your first video, sell it, and then buy the full version with the proceeds. Techsmith do a free, cut down version called Jing. I've not used it myself, but it might be worth checking out.

      Anything is better than Camstudio.

I've used both CamStudio and Camtasia. CamStudio would only allow you to capture your screen and put basic screen annotations etc. Camtasia is FAR more superior in terms of giving you more control over how your video actually looks.

I vote for Camtasia. It's the industry standard.

One more vote for Camtasia. I don't think you'll find anything better. Easy to use, lots of features and considering what it does, it's not that expensive.

I'd definitely recommend Camtasia. It's a solid investment that will pay for itself many times over.

However, if you're set on picking up free screen capturing software, here's a list of ten alternatives for you to investigate -

Of the free alternatives listed, I've heard good things about BB Flashback Express.

I've tried using CamStudio to record full screen Prezi presentation but the outcome is not so satisfactory.

It keeps getting blurry for about half a sec everytime it changed to the next slide. Also, CamStudio does not seem to record the original colours and resolution. So I am wondering if there's any free screen capture tool which can do better in this?
