Does your web host have a Cpanel or only FTP?

Simple add your all files in winzip .rar extension and upload this single file using cpanel on your root then extract it and delete this rar file or keep it for backup

FTP can be tricky, I hope the information you got will help you. What you really need is a step by step video, even though, FTP is generally notorious as you will need to understand the file path. It took me a long time to learn it, was very frustrating because I was a member to one very good membership site and the videos where good too, but like I am saying I still couldn't quite get it. Try searching for a video on you tube on that topic.

Having said all that, it's very easy and liberating when you know how to do it. The best is to be taken by the hand but I know that's not always easy, I contacted my membership website's support who couldn't help either, perhaps I was asking the questions wrongly or not understanding what they where saying I should do.

But all the best anyway, you will get it right in the end, as long as you don't give up.

      Hi ayomyde

How did you get on? FTP is tricky when you start out, especially if you have Wordpress or multiple sites on one hosting account.

If you're still stuck let me know and I can do a quick video for you that is specific to your setup.

      Cheers
      Libby

hard to tell without knowing what kind of files?

If they're basic html you can use the cpanel ftp. Just go to the directory you want the files in: example "web-root", hit the upload button. the directories on your computer will open up. choose the files (one at a time) and upload. If you have alot of files use the ftp address the hosting company gave you (ftp://yourdomain.com/public_html) and upload with your html editor if it has ftp or a ftp software (there are many free ones out there).

EDIT: If you're wondering how to get to "web root"?

Once you get onto the main page of your cPanel control....hit "file manager"...then web root....etc
    .................

Most of the posts here explained which software to use, but his main question was "how"

Install Filezilla ..when installed..enter your domain name in the hostname ( no http for example domain.com ) enter your cpanel username and password.

Upload your files to the public_html directory.

Make sure your root files are in the same structure, and also make sure that the index.html or index.php file is in the public_html directory.
