How can I prevent my tag pages from showing up in Google's search listings? The Last time I created a website, I use tags at the bottom of my post pages and those pages were indexed in Google by their tags. I am about to create a new site, and I would like to prevent Google from indexing the pages by tags, because they don't show up properly in the Search Engines. Please help!

One way is to use a plugin like "All-in-One SEO" and use the no-index option to keep the spiders away.

Another is to use a robots.txt file to spell out what sections are off limits. Lots of tutorials on using robots.txt, so I'll leave that bit of research to you...

I have found lik eJohn says, that AllInOne is one of the easiest ways to do a lot of SEO things with my wordpress sites.

It is nowadays the first plugin I install. And I set it up first before I do anything else.

I am still trying to decide if it is worth it to get the enterprise license or not. Do you have that?

Nope, just the regular API key. Then again, I don't sell blogs to others, so I don't worry about it...

I have only designed and sold a few blogs, mostly as cusomt websites for people not as a selling multile copies of a site. I value your opinion and I will try it for that reason. Thank you for your kindness.

Yoast has a plugin called wordress seo. It can be found at Wordpress

I have never used all in one seo, so I can't recommend one over the other.

It has robots text (meta), tags (What you want), google site map, title, meta description, breadcrumbs, and a lot more.

I don't remember ever seeing so much function in one plugin.

I think I got rid of about four plugins by using this one.

If you ever used Headspace, he does the same thing for titles, etc...

It is the third one I enable after a caching plugin and stopping my blog from pinging for submarines

edit* one more thing that this does I forgot, that might be of interest to some people, is it can put a link in your rss feeds that links back to your blog.
because of people that like to scape your blog.

I am guessing just the one that says tag pages on your AllInOne setup dashboard. There should be checkboxes for noindex your categories, archives and tag archives pages down towards the bottom of the page.

Just click on the settings tab and you should see allinone, then click that and you will get the allinone settings display. I have attached a picture of what it looks like to this post.
