Niches in Self Development

Hi there,

I've started a couple of self development sites and I haven't really focused on one area. Should I focus on one thing and stick with it like career building or management or weight loss or something?

Could anyone give me a link to a site that lists some niches in self development?

Thanks

    Here's a comprehensive "A to Z" list of self-development topics:

    selfgrowth.com/topics.html

There are pros and cons to focusing on one self-development subniche vs a general self-improvement niche. I would suggest focusing on one area unless you can attain a selfgrowth.com-like status.

Absolutely stick to one thing, I've been where you are and tried to do several all at same time, ended up not doing any well, got frustrated and stopped altogether for months - so yep my advice do one well, get comfortable and feel good as to what you'vve achieved then move on

I agree with Toby. Self-development is soooo wide a topic that you'll get lost unless you focus on one target. Be the best in that area and you'll be swimming in money!

I'd stick with a self-development sub-niche myself, as without proper credibility and authority it'd be hard to attract any kind of significant following in the broad self-improvement niche.

Although I break my own advice here, I would recommend listening to the advice above and going with a niche within self development - there are just too many areas, and someone interested in weight loss probably isnt going to be interested in "success mindset" or stopping procrastination... any one of these niches is very big on its own still anyway, and aside from Steve Pavlina or perhaps Steven Aitchison there are not many big / successful general personal development websites.

I would add that especially if you are new to IM and making money online that you should keep it simple, stick to one area, learn your trade, then either scale it up or branch out into other areas.

Good luck though, the personal development market is pretty big and you can be really successful in this niche

Thanks all for the reponses. I think I know what I'm going to focus on. Something that I always been interested in and learning so I think it's the obvious choice. Hopefully it's something I can make a living from

Would Success Mindset be a good sub niche? Or would that be to broad a topic?

i think you could cut that down tony because that covers a range of sub niches

        success mindset weight loss

        success mindset financial

        success mindset career

success mindset relationships..if you get my drift

No one can give you an answer to your question because you haven't told us what you are doing in that niche.... selling product, affiliate marketing, adsense.... get the drift?

A niche might not be worthwhile trying to get ranked highly in the search engines and building adsense sites around due to high competition, low bid prices or ppor monthly search volumes but it may be a totally different ballgame for selling product.

Tell us your plans and we can advise you better.

I'm planning on selling products and perhaps setting up a membership site. I will do most of my stuff through a auto responder.

I'm planning on giving reports and work books perhaps weekly for a certain amount of time like six month or a year then when that's finished they will be offered another membership.
