An Idea That Will Explode Your Mind!

Hi Warriors,

This is only going to be a short post, but listen up, it could be the making of you.

Recently I started privately networking with a few people on the forum, and while I can't tell you what it is we were working on - that is totally unimportant!

If you start privately discussing your plans with others just as enthusiastic about marketing as yourself, ideas go back and forth at terrific speed.

Little plans get shown up quickly, and you will find that you feed off of each others ideas. Suddenly you are all becoming more than the some of your parts, and that is when you strike gold - marketing gold that is.

It is important to find people with a different skill set to yourself, and if possible a different background. This really helps, as they will have totally different ideas to you, and may see the hidden gold in your strategies that you completely take for granted.

Work out what you can offer a creative partnership, and have them do the same. Ask each other what your skills are, and what they have done or are doing that is important. This is a good place to start offering each other advice, and where the brainstorming starts.

I know some of you are going to say "Isn't that what we are doing right here, on this forum?"

Yes it is, and I am sure we are all here because we see the value. However, move some of your discussions to a private place, agree that nothing you discuss leaves the conversation, then get ready for the real creative juices to start flowing!

So if you are looking for the idea that will explode your mind, you probably already have it. You just need to talk to others and have them jiggle it out of the clutter.

I'll Italic the last bit - for the skimmers

Have any of you tried anything like this?

Can you see the value of the NDA when going into such a meeting?

Does anyone have a better way of running such a meeting other than Skype, which constantly crashes when I try to use it? LOL

    I do things via skype.

The last year has been a boon to my business, mostly because of friendships made here at the forum and in my chat room.

Conversations start in public, then move behind the scenes into private.

Once into private, the juices start to flow, and ideas fly.

And even if you don't hook up with a JV partner, a simple discussion on an unrelated topic could generate the inspiration for your next great idea.

Good and to add to this; Networking one-on-one is more an active way to market your products. people usually like having business deals with people they feel like they have known for sometime. Some see the idea of networking as just going to networking sites and making only posts. It is worth it interacting individuals in your network like chatting or sending them messages. Getting to know what they can offer and showing off your own skills.

That is the bit I think most people don't realize. At a certain point you should take the conversation backstage where you aren't worried about all your ideas becoming public knowledge.

Well that is another reason, but the main one IMO is getting your own ideas back, but seen through the perceptions of another marketer.

Have to agree 100%...(I know it says this is my first post, I just changed my account name...) I started emailing back and fourth with someone that has a totally different skill set than me and I can honestly say I've had so many more good ideas than ever. Find someone you click with, and most importantly TRUST. It'll work wonders

Yeah, teamwork is very powerfull when it comes to IM. I'm really looking for a person who fits my needs and vice versa, but I don't need to push it because that will only make it worse!

    Hi Colin,

Yes you can build some awesome relationships for sure. I have had quite a thing happen in my own business just from being open with others and getting 'social" as it were.
JV'S I tend to stay away from -got burned a few times but I did land one recently that I am pretty positive will work out well. so you are right.

The important thing is that you present yourself as you are-be yourself and relationships can and will happen, some of which can literally skyrocket you.
    cheers

I couldn't agree more. It's definitely worth making some strong friendships in this forum. Most of you are probably a lot like me in that your friends and family have no idea what you are talking about half the time. It's always good to have some other like-minded people on your side. People you can trust and throw ideas at in private to get a second and unbiased opinion.

Often we are a bit too close to our ideas and you can't always ask your friends/family because they will look at you like a deer in headlights.

I couldn't agree more. It took me a while to realize that I wasn't going to be able to convince my "real-life" friends to be as passionate about this stuff as I am. That's why it's good to converse with people here.

I've been in a bunch of these. My preferred system is an email discussion list and the telephone. Works a treat.

Yes...Great idea. No doubt the members in this forum are great, I guess it is still important to have a private mastermind group where we can exchange ideas. Add me as 'friend' coz i may start something similar too.

Colin - I've been saying the same thing for years. The info in here is great on its own - but why be here if you aren't networking? I do the same with my news for my site. Why not use a newsletter for an excuse to call the people in the field and talk to them? It makes the news more credible and valuable and it gives you some networking for your site and yourself.

Networking seems to be where people really fall into a gap in their marketing.

      Colin,

Have you tried uninstalling Skype with Revo Uninstaller and then doing a clean install of the latest version?

I had the same problem as you but, since I did the clean install, I haven't had a single crash in two months.

If you've had Skype on your machine for a couple of years you might have over a gigabyte of files in your directory!
