Yahoo site explorer not working??

Hi,

for the last week yahoo site explorer works like 25% of the time for me. But the rest of the time I get this error:

" Sorry, Unable to process request at this time -- error 999.
Yahoo!

Unfortunately we are unable to process your request at this time. This error is usually temporary. Please try again later.

If you continue to experience this error, it may be caused by one of the following:

* You may want to scan your system for spyware and viruses, as they may interfere with your ability to connect to Yahoo!. For detailed information on spyware and virus protection, please visit the Yahoo! Security Center.

I cant do any backlink research because of this. Is there a accurate alternative to yahoo site explorer now? I really need it for what im doing. Thanks

    i use seoquake, and you can see all backlinks on individual pages of websites. it's good tools for analysis.

    oh I see. You open up the page and then there is links with internal/external. And then you click on external right and it shows the backlinks?

    but is seoquake accurate? Because there is a link from amazon on the first page of google for a keyword I searched. It says it has no internal links to it??? That's impossible right?

    Also one thing that always bugs me is can you build backlinks too fast? as in for a new site if I submit my site to say 40 sites is that too fast? I would like to submit to article directories and social sites. But is 40 too many on the first day?

    Also if I submit 40 on day 1 and then none the next day this would look bad right? Thanks and sorry guys I just really want to learn this time so my next site I can apply what I have learned to.

    Dude Yahoo site explorer was good last week. i didn't have any problem. i don't know why you get. may be it was a service error. i don't think seoquake is good as yahoo.you can also find other sites from where you can get you site's link information.

    thanks but yahoo site explorer doesnt work for me. I have tried for the last week now and it keeps giving me an error on firefox and IE.

      come on people site some sources or something when you are making claims that the site explorer is dead or alive. its an important question that needs quality factual backup.

      been asking around SEOs for a while about this and most say that site exlporer is working just fine - perhaps slower than before but still working and is considered a good source.

      i use seo spyglass tool which gets lots of backlinks from site explorer - no changes detected, still collecting many backlinks.

      so more experienced SEOs in this forum, can you pls contribute + leave a credible source: is site explorer dead or alive? this will enrich quality of this thread 110%
