A Video Question

INTERNET MARKETING

I have a question about web videos.

One of my clients had a TV commercial produced and we wanted to add it to her web site. She asked the video producer to send her a version optimized for the web and what he sent was a 10 mb .mov file.

I'm not an expert on videos but isn't that a little large for a 30 second clip?

I converted it to a .mp4, but I was converting the web version I was sent to another, so it's pretty grainy.

Uh, no. 10mb is tiny (compared to what I use, lol)

The MOV files in general will be a bit bigger.

Where/how are you planning on hosting the final video?

I work in video. I have 30 second clips that are over 300mb, even that is lower than some.

Where/how are you planning on hosting the final video?

Right now just on their shared hosting. I can put it on my AWS account if I need to.

That's not going to cause a problem with the page loading?

10mb is small

if you get trouble with quality increase the bitrate it will add size but the image will be cleaner, to save space you can make audio mono

You could upload it to Youtube and embed it into her website.

The folks at techsmith (makers of Camtasia) have a video hosting site called screencast. Just add a dot com. I am not an affiliate.

There you can post up to 2 gigs free, and as long as the monthly bandwith is less than 2 gigs viewed, the service is free. Oh yes, did I say FREE? Yep.

Like someone else said you can just put it on YouTube and embed it, may get you some extra exposure through YouTube as well.

10 MB used to be "huge" in the dial-up days, not anymore when majority of the population has broadband and video streaming is a regular thing. Just make sure whichever method you use to embed it into your pages, that it streams and buffers correctly.
