So I have heard some different things and I was wondering if I could get some input for you guys. When you are looking at search volume do you look at the global or local number? Any input would be appreciated.
#global #local

Depends what the offer you're selling is. Is the product shippable overseas? Is it a digital product? Are currencies accepted that are non US? My offers are US only so I look at US traffic figures. If you're selling lift tickets for some ski resort in New England you'll want to pay attention to those states only

In this case it depends on what you're promoting or selling, let say if you sell something that can be bought anywhere in the world then you should look at globally searches.

Thanks for the input. I am generally marketing products that can be sold worldwide such as amazon and clickbank products.

I am looking at these numbers for SEO purposes and I guess what I am really wondering is if I rank a .com on page #1 in the US will it be found by global searchers as well?

Just like the first two comments, it depends on the product that you're promoting and if it’s accessible for the global market.

What I think about this is there is a great chance of you appearing on global searches but it depends on what SEO approach you’ll use. for instance, those businesses that list their businesses on local directories can be have an advantage being first on local searches. Hence, I think you must do a more “global” SEO approach if you want to appear on global searches. Just my opinion.

I see what you mean by that. I guess my only question would be do you have any suggestions on how to take a more "global" approach to SEO?

        Hi,
I think doing the regular internet marketing practices is a great help for being global. Instead of focusing on posting on local searches, make your website popular by doing article marketing, utilize social media, have a professionally-designed and impressive website and others. In this way, you can conquer the global searches. If you'll take the fashion world for instance, you'll see how many clothing wholesalers from Asia and other parts of the world are able to conquer global searches by doing these internet marketing practices.

local number because global is too broad and may not be relevant to your targeted audience.

I personally pay more mind to Local... but it's usually proportionate. Majority of the times, your top GLOBAL term will also be your top LOCAL term (albeit with less searches). Also, remember when you go GLOBAL... you're also looking at many countries which are considered "un-trustworthy" in the circles of e-commerce (for scams, etc)... if that makes any sense at all. That's looking at it from a USA point of view.

Depends on the affiliate products you are promoting. If they are ship only in US, then switch the result country to US & look at local.
