Volunteer Needed To Head Up The Contests & Challenges Section..

Anybody interested in running the contests and challenges forum?

I think I bit off more than I can chew, I just don't have the time for it even though I still think it is a good idea.

I got like 5 ipads I still need to give away and haven't had the time to choose winners for them.

All it would consist of is approving the good contests and challenges and deleting the ones that don't make the cut. That and choosing a winner each friday for the best contest or challenge run.

Thanks!

Allen

Do you think it would look suspicious if I won every contest?

I'd be very interested if it wasn't too time-consuming. How much time per day are we talking?

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

I've always wondered, is it active enough to actually give a free iPad away once per week? I would say once ever two weeks or once a month, but that's just me!

Agreed. Twice a month sounds much better to me. It gives enough time for
the thread to get noticed and properly responded but that's just me.

And I'd love to give a hand.

I think with Jeremy, Thomas and Dennis, you have your volunteers.

If you want anyone to keep an eye on things in the England timezone, I'm happy to help.

    Dear Allen,
I would love to volunteer on your wonderful Contests & Challenges Section. This would be a great opportunity for me to express my gratitude for all the personal help received from this winning section. Thanks to this section I have received a lot of support and inspiration from kind Warrior Forum members who offered me their help and support.

    Love & Light

    Hi Allen,

I suspect you have more than enough volunteers at this point, but if you do need another, just let me know.

    Cheers,

That's just the point though isn't it. He is hoping to spark some more action into this part of the forum by offering the weekly prizes. If he can afford to do it then I think it's a great idea to not only encourage users to this part of the forum but also encourage those creating contents/challenges to think outside of the box and be more creative than they might otherwise be.

Well I know I have been here long but I am online for about 16 hours a day 7 days a week. If you need any help in filling in more than likely I'll have the extra time to help out when needed.

    Allen,

Just another point I wanted to make. After having a bit of a sniff around the contests and challenges section, one thing I did notice is that there is no way to tell which contests/challenges have finished and which are still running.

There were numerous challenges that had indeed finished but you would only know this by sifting through a ton of posts. People were still posting ideas in these contests thinking they still had a chance to win the prize even though it had already been given away.

I think you need a new sticky post for this part of the forum called something like 'Rules: Read Before You Submit New Challenge/Contest'. In that sticky I think you need to remind people that they should edit the title of their challenge/content to include the word 'ENDED' at the beginning of the thread title so we all know which ones have ended and which are still running.

Just an idea but I think it needs to be done to stop the current confusion.

This is a wonderful idea! I completely endorse it. At least whoever continues to post on the thread (like with the Haiku competition) will only do so without expecting to win anything.

I believe Allen is in the process of choosing a moderator for this part of the forum. Besides, I don't think it is too much to ask of the contest publishers to quickly edit their thread title when they announce the winner. That way it will happen right away instead of waiting for a mod to figure it out.
