Mass twitter followers/ facebook 'likes' - how do they do it?

There are various services available on fiverr that offer 1500 Twitter followers for $5, or 2000 facebook 'likes' for $5. How do these services work - where are they getting these followers from?
#facebook #followers or #likes #mass #twitter

Unless you gather these followers yourself and and earn their respect and trust, I doubt very much whether they are worth 5c to you.

You can be pretty sure that the 'targeted followers' they claim to provide have been obtained by automated bots that gather followers by using keywords and filters.

Of course, they will follow back everyone who follows them, so the list of followers will be stuffed with other promoters and bots who have no interest in your messages or promotions.

Do it the slow, effective way to build a quality list. Offer interesting, informative content in your messages and approach those you can identify as real people who are likely to share your interest in that niche.

      Ivan,
You've taken the words straight out of my mouth
I couldn't agree with you more. When it comes to FaceBook, Twitter and other social media, what counts is quality and not quantity.

I take great care to delete from my FaceBook fanpages anyone who promotes porn - it is my central policy to keep all my fanpages and websites porn free.

However with Twitter - How do I unfollow members from my account who promote porn?

Maybe they have 1500 Twitter accounts.

Even if they don't, it's probable that the followers you're buying aren't actually interested in you or your product.

The same way you unfollow anyone else: Hit the "unfollow" button.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I tried advertising through those methods before on Fiverr, and they weren't helpful.

The audience is real, but it's not targeted. It's usually a bunch of teens who Farmville each other, or they're into movies and friend each other. But you can never truly tell because half the time they don't even think about it.

I asked one girl what her demographic was, and she was like "Uh...teens". That told me right there.

I'd say 8 out of 10 times the folks are not from US or Canada even though the Facebook owner claims such.

You gotta be careful dealing with some of these youngins. They mean well, but I've encountered some of the lousiest customer service from them.

I literally lectured this one Australian kid. I wished him well and he had bright ideas, but communication was seriously lacking. He just dropped off scope, wouldn't keep me informed, didn't tell me a timeframe. Nothing ever got done. He had a lot to learn about dealing with customers. So I lost $5. Not a big deal. But I could have done without the hassle.

Not every provider is a teen. The older ones tend to be really good. And the ones from India and Pakisatan -- stellar service.

Fiverr is good for getting services done like: backlinking, creating a quick Animoto video so you don't have to pay for Animoto membership, creating an ebook cover, someone placing your article on their Google news site, etc.

Truly, anything of quality, you should pay the proper price for. It's worth it. As for social media followers...I'd say you're better off nurturing your own.

I have been reading about this on internet what I have concluded so far is those people make tons of facebook account and get 5000 friends and then start promoting there pages. Also most of them uses bots n stuffs so its pretty much useless

I would rather have 100 QUALITY and real fans then 10000 fake ones.

It depends on what your goals are. If you want real benefit, real live friends, - these services are useless. If you want just pretty numbers however - this is another story, here they may help you.

First let me say that I'm not condoning or condemning using a service to provide followers, links, hits, article views...merely pointing out one of the reasons someone would do it for Twitter.

The idea behind getting a lot of followers fast is to build some social proof.

Getting targeted quality followers is a lot easier and comes quicker once they see that you are already being followed.

When it comes to social media marketing and the herd mentality, people like to follow people who are already being followed.

Untargeted Likes from places like Fiverr are worthless. You need to have quality content on your fan page. Once people see that, they will like and share it naturally. Artifically high fans are pointless and won't yield much for your business.

Let's say that you are walking down the street looking for a good place to buy a lampshade and come across two businesses side by side that sell shades.

One window has nobody in front of it looking at the shades while the other window has a small crowd that is very active.

If your intention was to buy a lamp shade that would impress your friends, you could already see from the amount of folks gathered around the second shop, that these shades seem to be more popular.

Both shops could in fact be selling the very same merchandise but the second shop has the appearance that it is more popular and therefore creates the perception of the value you are seeking.

Even if the group of people standing there gawking were paid actors, the perception was formed.

Agree with the methods or not but a lot of marketing is creating this perception of value and when it comes to social media marketing the value is on followers.

Most people don't go to a Twitter page and start looking through the posts that the person made first. They look at the profile description and follower count.

So like the example above with the paid actors at the window, if you can get thousands of followers fast then you start to get the "targeted followers" faster too.

Or, you can stand out in front of your shop telling everyone that walks by that your competitor doesn't really have customers either.

      Just like you.

That doesn't work real well when trying to convince people that you have popular lamp shades.

      Or Tweets.

Most people don't go to a Twitter page and start looking through the posts that the person made first. They look at the profile description and follower count.
The profile description that people provide is largely useless. I, for one, find it to have little or no value. People write 'bait' type profiles and then tweet about other things. A far more useful guide are the tweets a person actually sends. Or at least the last tweet that was sent, as a minimum, along with the date of the tweet, to indicate recency.

Admittedly, the bots are getting far more sophisticated and, to begin with, can fool the unsuspecting. However, a pattern is soon recognized and the clever bots also can be identified.

I understand the supposed value in having a bunch of sham followers who will mistakenly give the impression that a Twitter account is more popular than it actually is. To some extent, this will work in that targeted visitors will see that there are followers in place. However, it's questionable that this is of great value.

For instance, I'm more impressed with a prospect who has only a few hundred followers than one who has, say, 50,000 followers. The smaller account is more likely to actually read my messages, whereas the one with many followers will be lucky to ever see my messages, much less respond to them.

As well, those with large numbers of followers are almost certainly using software to manage their accounts and to select followers. Just a casual look through their list will often indicate that few are actually interested in the niche and most are heavily promoting their own interests.

It doesn't take long to get a few hundred followers, even when doing it manually.

Also, it does not take long to accumulate a history of tweets to show that there is a real person behind the button and not just a robot. In just a couple of weeks, you can have a hundred tweets which make it clear there is a human mind at work rather than an automaton.

That first two weeks of manually building followers and sending tweets is invaluable experience in learning how to manage an account more effectively, gather suitable content, as well as establishing trust and credibility.

This provides a core on which you can build a worthwhile and responsive list. Even so, it is not for those wanting a quick fix, or a hit and run type business. However, for those wanting a long-term, ongoing business, it provides a good basis to work from, especially for building an email list and marketing to that list.

Every day I have confirmed that the number of new followers I receive is very sensitive to the last message that I send, especially as it will be the most visible. Those who are interested in the niche - and especially those experienced in it - will often check my account to get an idea of the sort of messages I've been sending.

I keep a daily record of response rates (new followers, retweets, visits to website, etc) to see what works best. If you act like a poser, you'll attract others and be abandoned by those with a genuine interest in the niche. If you send garbage, it'll be returned.

From my experiences in several different niches, you seem to be part of the minority.

The smaller account is more likely to actually read my messages, whereas the one with many followers will be lucky to ever see my messages, much less respond to them.
It takes a lot more numbers in Twitter because not everyone of your followers are on Twitter and reading your tweets at the time you are sending them.

Again, to build "quality" followers faster, it helps to have lots of followers already. So what if the first 2000 or so followers are not responsive to your tweets. That's not what you get them for.

You are getting them as the social proof so the type of followers that you are trying to get will see you as someone with authority.

Even if that authority is manufactured, (which is a totally different thread about ethics) it does it's job to produce the perceived value.

You can spend time on building a few followers a day the slow and methodical way, or you can spend that time getting thousands of "shills" which in turn, helps to get you what you are ultimately after.

        Only quicker.

To state again, I'm not personally endorsing or rejecting the method, just making a point that it is effective.

Building your own network will be more beneficial by setting it on your own as you'll get your target market from it. Nothing against the Fiverr approach though but if I were to choose, I’ll go for how we usually do it in the past. This will not only result to better online relationship but also establish your online presence in a way.

Before i answer this quote let me assure Warriors here not all sites are using any bots or fake traffic and its a case of the ones that do makes the other sites look bad. I deal in facebook likes and twitter followers every day and i would put my reputation on the line compared to fiverr because i have a team of social media experts who do the job properly, Sure we charge more then fiverr but the price you pay at our site means we do the job right and have real people on the job doing what has asked them to do and from our feedback so far from customer's there aint one negitivae one yet.

The ones on fiverr are useless and I should know there too many sites about that do the same tactic by hiriing these clowns and charge the customer 40 dollars to 200 dollars to get the work done. They are the same people who try to hire my staff when orders are too much on fiverr but we cant provide 2000 real people from our networks and business clients who we do facebook for? for five bucks...

There many ways they are doing this like with applications bought form many CPA marketplace companes but they soon fade because facebook blocks the application scripts and making it harder to do, My own company dont use any bots or scripts and we just send invites on the infomation the order provides and instructs us to do. But i have for business clients facebook pages and we do send invites after research to real fans based on what our customers want not teenagers or any rubbish like that.

Ultimately to get the best result, you have to do this yourself. Automating the process will get you a lot of people, no questions about that. But Quality always beats quantity. ALWAYS!
