Incoming Links to your site.

There is probably a very simple answer to my question (but I am a newb!)

Where can I view the incoming links to my website?
I would like to know whether my backlinking efforts have been making any difference?

Also, how long does it normally take for google to index your backlinks?
Is there a way to speed up this process?

Thanks
Alice

    Ways to check backlinks:
Tools like Best Free SEO Tools on the Web
    Site explorers like https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com
Go to Google and type "site:yourURL.com" (obviously replacing yourURL.com with your site)

It can take weeks for Google to notice your backlinks. If you use blogging for backlinks, you can speed up those by pinging those blogs. Otherwise you pretty much just get to wait.

Dont use google to check backlinks.

They don't show them all and it's not useful/reliable.

Stick to yahoo for backlinks and Google for indexed pages.

I use this: Majestic SEO: Link Intelligence Tools
To speed up the indexing, submit your RSS feed to RSS feed aggregators. Also social bookmark your backlinks and ping the links and bookmarks.

You can view the incoming links to your website/any other website using the SeoQuake toolbar, this will give lots more info than just the number of incoming links.

One of the fastest ways to have your website indexed is to submit it to Digg.

You can also use Market Samurai or Rank Tracker. Market samurai is a paid application but it is good, an you can get a trial version. Rank tracker is also good. My personal experience is that any tool including yahoo site explorer does not show all of your back links. It seems that it takes quite sometime for your backlinks to appear in these tools even after they are indexed in the search engines

Thank you for all of the replies.

It seems that google are now noticing my backlinking efforts and my inlinks are growing

Just another question. On yahoo site explorer, you have to option to click on pages and inlinks (the inlinks are fine - they are growing) but I only have 3 pages, and this went down from 4 the other day!?

How do I go about getting all the pages of my site to index and show up there?
