Hi,

I'm looking for a good option to set up a proper wordpress opt in form. Do you think it's too cheesy if I put a "flying" (sorry, don't know the exact name) opt in form as soon as the visitor arrives on the site? So he either subscribe or close the window and then browse the site.

I'm thinking to do that - can anyone give me an advice what wordpress plugin would do that for me? Would really appreciate it. Thanks!

You don't need any plugin, in most of the cases.

Decent AR (autoresponders) offer an option for their forms to have it as a "pop-up" (lightbox) - just need to select it.

You have an autoresponder anyway, don't you? Otherwise why would you need the form...?

  Yes, I'm using iContact but they don't have that option, unfortunately. As I can see from DanTheSeoGuy's post, aweber does have that. I might have to give it a shot. Thanks guys!

Aweber does have a ready to go lightbox optin popup, but many other Autoresponders don't. I've run into this same problem with iContact, as they don't offer such an optin. I got around it by using Brian Terry's Optin Pop Advanced as the plugin. I then put my optin code and copy on an external page. You specify the page link in Optin Pop Advanced and it displays the popup in an iframe.

Works great, and I can use Google Optimizer on that external page to split test popup copy.
Alternately if you want a static optin on your blog you can simply create a sidebar widget and plug in your form code there.
