Most Effective Form Of Advertising? If You Could Only Use One?

Hi guys,

Interested to know what YOU personally have found the most effective form of advertising for your products/services.

For me it is PPC, although you have to be careful as it costs money and in some niches I have found PPC awful.

Nearly all of my advertising is web 2.0 sites, article marketing and PPC probably in that order as well.

What have you found works for you?

Chris

PPC for sure. Got a low priced membership site fueled only by Adsense and it's doing $30K a month and we're spending around $2,500.

Article marketing is my most profitable, but it is not something that you can spend money and expect repeatable results every time.

It is something that can pay huge or fall flat, and you really have no perfect control over the process.

I know I should say SEO since I spend a lot of time on organic search...but honestly if I could pick one thing it would be Media Buying.

When I say media buying though, I may be including PPV and Facebook ads

I just love being able to test quickly, test often, trim out bad campaigns quickly and scale quickly. Very mathematical and can be very predictable.

      Interesting question posed though, OP.

      Good stuff.

If I could only use one I'd have to say it's Adwords. Been doing it for more than 6 years and never lost money with it (probably because I only target buyer keywords ).

Yep, same here I would say a lot of my profits come from article marketing and yes you have no REAL control and it takes time but can't beat free

This is a VERY good point I almost always use ppc to test a market - you can't beat it for speed.

        Cheers Tommy,

Yes I have a few media buys and pick my spots/sites carefully although I have heard mixed results using Facebook ads - does it work for you?

Suppose, again it does depend on the niche.

First, you're absolutely right...Facebook really depends on the niche! I've bombed quite a few campaigns. Now that I'm thinking about my original post I would probably have to say that PPV would be my 1st choice (for the reasons I stated in my first response). However, I would like to note that I agree PPC is totally scalable, quick to test, etc. I just don't have as much experience with it which is why I wouldn't choose it as my last resort.

I'd take an endorsed mailing to a rabid list of my market anyday. Think about it...how are the big launches done...endorsed mailings. They work every time I set them up.

Getting people on board can be tricky in the hotter markets but once it's setup you're golden. Plus it doesn't cost anything.
