Want to get the Attention of Guru's and Big Name Marketers, but dont know how?

Luckily for you , most Guru's and marketers are very self centered. They have huge ego's and love seeing their names. This is a good thing for you.

We are going to use those attributes to our advantage.

The problem with getting in touch with these people is that fact that everyone is emailing them. They get solicited all the time for help and JV's. So, you have to be a little different.

Since most of the heavy hitting marketers like seeing their name come up, most of them subscribe to google alerts for their name and products. See where I am going?

If you are unfamiliar with google alerts, google allows you to create alerts for keywords. When a news story, blog post or something is posted with that keyword, google emails you. This is great for niche marketing, btw. Gives you some good backlink opportunities.

Anyway, if you appoach things a little different, you can catch the attention of the marketers by writing blog posts or articles with their names and/or product names.

You have to be a little crafty. Basically, publically call them out. Use the first paragraph to state up front that you are invoking their name bacause you have a need that only they can solve, and that you are so sure that contact with them will solve your problem.

You are showing them that you can think outside the box, and you are not afraid to step out and put yourself out there. You are also appealing to their ego's. Only that marketer can help you.

Use the rest of the content to hint at what you need and add contact info at the end. Dont make it too long, but make them want to take action, the same way they made you want to take action to buy their products.

Give it a try. You will be surprised at the results.

Fed Ex mailings can generally get your message to them and read, bypassing the gatekeepers and virtual assistants handling their emails.

While I think that the idea of using someone's name in a piece of content to get them to view your site is a rather interesting idea, don't you feel like saying that big marketers and guru's are self centered and have huge egos is a big generalization? How many of them do you know? I think the majority of marketers are pretty down-to-earth, myself.

Moreover, ALL marketers should have their name, website, company name, etc. set up on Google alerts so they can keep an eye on what's being set about them. That's regardless of their guru status, self-centered-ness, or ego size.

  • ^^^ Yes, I am using generalizations. Luckily, generalizations work

I receive many messages with Google Alerts but I rarely have the time to read them. I don’t think that the ‘big gurus’ will pay attention to a blog post about them, even if they’ll care about opening ‘another’ Google Alert.

I've been accused of being abstract, but really, this is a
      pretty effective suggestion.

To get someone to notice you, become WORTHY of being noticed.

If a product vendor must notice you, help her sell a ton of
      products.

If a writer must notice you, find many readers for his work
      and he surely will.

If an affiliate must notice you, make your product so easy
to sell that many others have, with good results.

'Attraction' is a far better strategy than 'pursuit', imho.

Some years back, Bob Serling conducted a contest for ways to
build a powerful JV network quickly. The winning entry was one
that suggested spending 2 weeks each promoting one of the
people you wanted to have as your JV partner - and then getting
in touch with them, explaining what you've done for them over
      the 2 weeks.

In 6 months' time, you'd likely have 6, if not 12 high quality
      partners.

The plan suggested in the OP works to get attention - but not to
      keep it.

I've seen my name pop-up on Google alerts many times, but the
only instances where I've felt compelled to explore further,
leave a comment on a blog post, or respond to a forum post
has been when the CONTENT of the message was related to some
      purpose close to my heart.

That's the difficult part, though. You need to really figure
out what matters to the person you are approaching.

And the nice part of this is it works with EVERYONE, not just
      'celebrities'.

      All success

Most of the successful marketers I know are not quite so ego driven as you're saying and they're much more likely to respond to you if you approach them via someone they trust and with an offer that you have stats to support the fact it will make them money. (decent money - not $7 a sale)

You need to know what they're about and what they care about.

The reason most people struggle to get their attention is because they approach them like a sales person with "you can make money selling my stuff" random messages.

I regularly ignore these myself as I only do business with people I trust - or that someone I trust has told me are genuine.

So - it doesn't matter how good you think your offer is.

If it's not different and interesting or tested to bring high value response and CTR - you're wasting your time.

It's not about you - you want access to their value - bring value to the table for them BEFORE you try and use that relationship to make money.
