Are you speaking of article marketing in this particular instance? Or is it general webSITES? I ask because it is my understanding having a mirror site that is exactly identical in every way, shape and form on two different domains is NOT "okay" ONLY BECAUSE this is seen as spamming. If you create two separate domains with the exact same content, when Google finds out will ban both of those sites. Here is Google's policy: Duplicate content - Webmaster Help Center. Also, Yahoo, Alta Vista and Live all have the same policies. It is considered a black hat strategy to manipulate the SERPS in this way.

Guys/gals, please keep in mind I'm not talking about article marketing here...

Now, when it comes to article marketing, having the same exact article in thousands of different directories is fine because it is not "true duplicate content" in the sense that it's a mirror SITE. It's simply one little element (The article) of a larger picture (The entire site/directory with all the other different articles hosted making it quite unique as a whole when compared to the other article directories hosting that same article in question).

So, Steve, to answer your question about "is it bad to have duplicate content linking to each other" I would have to ask YOU a question: Is it bad in regards to what? In what way? What type of content? A complete website or an article? You'll get different answers depending on how specific you get with your question.

...because if it's article marketing you're speaking of (I'll presume for now that it is) you have nothing to worry about because that would never happen with article marketing (no 2 article directories are going to be identical (like a mirror site)).

2. I don't want to bleed any juice from my page

If you were going to use someone elses articles you would have to include the resource box, of course. However, I'm going to have a look at a couple of plugins that pull youtube videos and other content from different places on the web to add to my own content and see where it goes
An interesting point as bizarrely I started a similar test myself a few days back - posting my eza articles to a wordpress.com blog. I was doing it to feed backlinks to my brand new niche blog though so I left the resource box intact.

I might try it your way for one of my niches instead...

Try a bunch of variations, what's the worst that can happen?

I actually havn't had the time to get into this quite as much as I would like, but I was alerted to another thread started by TommyGadget that pretty much backs up what I said here.

Why?

Do you have a reason to say that or are you just trying to get people to your blog?

What about using nothing but other's content from EZA..

Build one blog per niche with hundreds of articles from EZA til you end up with 100's of diff niche blogs..

Do ya guys think this will work..?

If you did that, technically you would have to include the original authors resource box....talk about a leak!

Adding onto to what Jeremy has mentioned,
the aim is to direct the traffic from article
directory to your blog/ site and then onto
the affiliate product page you are promoting.

This funnel should be as streamlined as
possible with no or minimal leakages.

It is no doubt hard work to write articles.
But imagine this ... your article which you
write today, may still bring in income for
the next 3 to 5 years (assuming it still
ranks well in the search engine).

Cheers,
John

Hey Jeremy!

That's Brilliant stuff, I've been planning to use most of my content several times so your experience is a great boost of confidence to me!

I have a little question or two though,

I have a website here Build Muscle Fast

and a blog at the domain/blog

Do you suggest simply posting to the blog and linking directly to my chosen product, or linking to the site?

And is having a blog on the same domain as my sales page worse for SEO etc??

One other thing I wondered was, would it matter that a lot of articles I'm writing are similar in content? Of course it's all wordered differently etc but there is a limit to what you can write haha!

PS I've used the "Blogs for Traffic" BLogging method qhich was released by a warrior member I beleive, will that suffice?

Thanks so much in advance, I don't usually like to ask people that many questions! Cheers Mate

Yes offcourse there will be a leak but theres only one way to find out how much.. I'm going to do a test with adsense and EZA articles so I'm going to set up two new sites in a niche i know i can make appr $0.50-$0.80 per adsense click from.. 1 site with my own content and 1 site using articles from EZA.. I'll post the results on my blog later..

Jeremy
I'm interested in the above Jeremy! I just thought about doing this a few weeks ago on Blogger but, don't want to waste all my articles on a site I don't own! And I couldn't see doing it on a regular website either. I also have a crap load of articles to use.

What I really would like to know is how is the best way to lay out the WP blog. Put a full article in per post or just a snippet with a link to the full article, etc.

I would REALLY love it if you could do another blog as an example so we can see the layout! That would be great for me...

Thanks

We had some time last week and duplicated this with a strictly Adsense site. We only added content to it that had been posted to EZA over the past 2 months...guess what?

We are already getting organic traffic after 2 weeks

Definitely not a huge earner by any means at this time, but I think that more emphasis should be placed on the promotion of your good content rather than creating new content that says the same thing in different words.

Hi Jeremy,

Can you share the "ping list" for us please. I am currently doing an experiment (but with rewritten -not duplicate) articles that I have scheduled for a month or so. Currently I only have rpc.pingomatic.com under "Update Services"

Congrats for your success...

Jeremy,

2 questions:

1. Im assuming you pay the $99/month EZA membership? True?

2. Your blog ping list - Didn't that go away with WordPRess 2.6 and 2.7? I thought the pings were automatic now???

Thanks for the success story, I love these!

For the moment I do. I upgraded for the Article Marketers Boot Camp that we did to make sure that there was no delay in what I was trying to teach. More than likely I will cancel it after the month is up.

hmmmm, Good question! That is definitely possible. Don takes care of a lot of the set up stuff with the blogs etc...He won't let me near them for fear that I will permanently break them! In case you have not heard, I'm a bit of a techno tard

As far as deciding what to do the blogs on...Just regular research into niches and keywords. pretty much any niche is good though. I havn't met many yet that I didn't like for one reason or another

I have review sites that are years old with duplicate content on them as well as newer blogs and I have never had any problems.

I have heard that the search engines are more interested in whose linking to your sites than they about whether you have two different sites with the same content. Just my three cents!

Hi,

How do you setup automatic ping in each post?

"I set the blogs up with a substantial ping list and started adding the content to the blogs at a clip of about 3 pages a day, which were automatically pinged, etc."

Thanks
Adrian

A handfull of us have tried explaining this dup content thing for a while.. at last some folks are finaly listening this time

I have several blogs where I ONLY post press releases from 1 single company (a different company on each blog). I get the releases straight from the companies web sites. My blogs outrank those companies sites for that exact same content. Now, these were just cheap-o zero-effort blogs that I put together soley to drop relavant text links to my own sites. I only pent $10 each on some social bookmarking outsourcing, and that's it besides the rss feeds and pings.

There's really no 'penalty' if google sees the dup content across your site.. it will simply decide to keep one page in it's index, and move the rest of your dup into the supplementals index. I've experienced it a ton of times - and it never effected my site's ranking as a whole. Those dup pages just no longer help you - but they don't hurt you.

I was wondering if this would work if i used either subdomains or put each wp blog in its own folder. eg. http:wwwyoursite.com/niche/ I know how to do this. I was wondering if this would work and which would be better for a subdomain or folder.

Thanks
Gail
You need to look around for a different hosting provider. You can get unlimited domain hosting from a lot of places for like $6 a month.

Jason,

What "automatic wordpress posting software" do you use?

Thanks
Adrian

So I believe the whole duplicate content thing is not as bad as everyone states it to be.

I also ended up selling my blogs for a good profit. So about 4 hours of work on my part and it turned me up about 3k. Not to shabby I would say. Anyway point is that its worth trying if you have free time and you have nothing to lose in doing it only something to gain. Either way you can just sell the blog after a couple of months of good traffic.

Jason

I really appreciate an updated Ping List, as it seems mine is kind of old...
