Hi Warriors,

I am looking for some ways to improve my site http://www.livelinksurfer.com It's been very slow and I am wondering if there is something putting users off.

Please give me your honest opinions on what you think needs improving.

    It's just way too busy.

The more options you give people the more you confuse them. And the confused visitor never buys or clicks.

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your input. I was trying to make it as appealing as possible. I realise the blinking text may also be causing some of the business. I will try and reduce the amount of images on the page and see what you think then.

I'd have to agree with kevin that it may be a bit too busy on the eyes.

It seems you have a penchant for lively, flashy websites that were in fashion more than a decade ago.

To me, these types of sites scream 'spam'.

I tend to trust sites that look and sound professional and I think that that is the trend.

When you create 'spammy' sites, you attract 'spammy' marketers.

Is this the market you're after?

Gotta agree with the Cat on this one. Whenever I come across these kinds of sites by accident, I immediately click away.

Have you signed up with Google Analytics? If so, what is your bounce rate? If people react like I do, it will be huge. Even though I react adversely to sites like yours, it's only an opinion, and it is best to test. Your bounce rate will give you the true story.

I also agree with the webpage having way too much. The first thing that I saw was the surfers in the background. You want to draw your audience into the middle of the page, not the outside.

Coming to the site, I had no idea what the intention of the site was. After a few seconds, I still had no idea what it was. I think you have to make clearer exactly what you want the visitor to do.

You should have a large box in between the menu and the content that tells me exact what your site is about. For example:

    - Get your link on my site for free!

    - Earn points every time someone visits your link

    - Use those points to get x,y,z

    - Sign up now it's free!

    etc.

    Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks for the ideas Mike, I will look into doing just that.

Hmm.... I understand your desire for a surfing theme, but I find full scale photos as a backdrop incredibly distracting.

Information wise, there needs to be more white (dead) spae. It allows the eyes to rest and for your readers brain to digest what it's seeing.

Priority of information is usually determined by the size of the information. I see very clearly that you have X amount of members. My first reaction is "Why should I care?". On the same bar, far off to the size in what seems to be the tiniest print the world stating "How this works" etc. This information is much more important to your visitors than the number of members you have.

As for the actual links, is there a system behind which ones are of a normal weight and which ones are bold? What do the images stand for? If this is all personal preference, kill it. It's too too much and very difficult to read. A decorative bullet may work better, or at least have some sort of consistency between each link.

As mentioned above, a clean graphic element with your basic steps (1. Do this, 2. Then do this, 3. Get this) will increase your conversion rate because right now, your typical visitor doesn't know what you want them to do, where you want them to go, or why they should do what you ask.

There are a lot of images on your site without alt tags, I'd recommend you go through and add them. Google can't see pictures per say, so it reads the alt tags.

Thank you for the valuable feedback. I am certainly rethinking how I create future sites and I am also rethinking a new design.

I would have thought the 2 headings right at the top of the page made it very clear what the site is about, but if the users are being drawn away from them they are really not doing the job they are meant to do.

What about a popup window? When the site first loads. The popup could be set so as the page behind is darkened so the popup can give the relevant information to direct the reader.

Very busy with no defined purpose. It doesnt really matter what people say here it is the results you get that count. Just start making changes. Make sure analytics is installed and see what the problem is. time on page down? Change headlines. No sales, change benefits and call to action. Make it a science.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

Because of all the graphic elements images on your site, I would bet that many of your visitors will agree with some of the comments above that the site looks either like spam or seriously dated. As a visitor, if the site seems suspicious, a pop up would make me fly out of there fast because I would think a virus was attached to it.

When I went to your site... it was a blast from the past. I remembered something they used to have over a decade ago, called "link-farms". I guess they exist now but more 'sophisticated' versions of them. To be honest that is all that page screams at me, "link farm".

I gave it the benefit of the doubt and went to the "how it works" page, to see... how it works. This is what you have there:

Every link is worth a certain number of POINTS depending on what options the owner decided to place on the link. ICONS are worth 2 POINTS BOLD highlighting is worth 2 POINTS ICON and BOLD is worth 4 POINTS 1 DAY POST AD is worth 10 POINTS or 1 Credit. CREDITS You use CREDITS to purchase your link displays. It will cost you: 2 credits to display an ICON at the front of your links. 2 credits to display your link in BOLD font. eg; If the owner of the link selected a special icon to show in front of their link, this is worth 2 points to you to view it.
Exactly in that format. Where are the periods in between the sentence? You're talking about bold but you're using CAPS. You're speaking a foreign language with all the credits and icons and points and God knows what else.

Simplify it. If I am to be honest, I would say that site needs to be redone, focusing on the benefits for any visitor who happens to land on your site. And those benefits need to be easy to find, right in your face. Where are the bullet points with the benefits?

Right now that website requires the visitor to do ALL the work, go seriously HUNTING for information, figure everything out on their OWN, and basically sell their own self on it... who's going to do that?

Yes, I see your point. I do need to spend more time on directing the user and trying to give them all the information right up front.

Thanks for you input, it's most appreciated.

You seem to be trying to creat an authority site. But as others have mentioned, when I visited your site I got really confused and couldn't understand the main purpose of the site.

    Hope this helps.
