Adding Content to a New Site

I'm launching a new site and plan on adding 35-50 pages of content. It is a product site and I will be adding a page for each product variation. I've heard you can get penalized for adding too much content too fast making in not look natural.

1) How long of a time should I post all the pages over?
Week? Month? 3 Months?

2) Since most of the site is built offline already, is there any problem posting pages that have broken links untill the pages they link to are posted? Do you get penalized for posting broken links?

Thx!

I don't think it is so bad to put it all online at the same time, so long as you keep adding regular content after that. So if you have 35-50 pages of content, I would probably recommend putting up around 20 pages to start with and then adding a couple of pages every few days over the period of a few weeks.

In regards to the broken links, this is why you should be using a blog for your website. Not only do the search engines love blogs but you won't have problems like this. They are designed for regularly posted content.

You know what? Who cares? I don't mean that negatively. What I do mean is that you should go for it even if it's not perfect. Most people will wait and wait...I agree with WillR--use blogs for your postings...and if you can hire someone to fix your links (try Fiverr, for instance), then you can get the job done fast and inexpensively.

If it were my site I would use Wordpress and I would set up the posts to be drip fed one a day. I would also make sure to have the top ten ping sites addes in the "writing" section of the "settings" tab. You can find a list by doing a simple google search.

By doing it this way you will (in theory) have google crawling your site daily (from your pings) will will help increase rankings and page rank.

But again, there are many ways to do it. The choice is yours. Oh, and the question about broken links, I wouldn't make a page with broken links.

    Hope this helps

Broken links may penalize your website. But if you post all your pages at the same time then it wont harm you. You can post all the pages.

Set them up to drip feed every second day. This will add fresh unique content to your site on a regular basis. The perfect potent for google.

It is not really a big issue with adding all the pages at onces. The only real concern you should have is getting those pages 100% active with no broken links. Just keep in mind though by adding all of your pages at once google is going to crawl your site for the first time. See all the pages and then wait for you to add more pages before they even think of indexing any new pages. SO it is not that they do not like you adding all your pages at onces. It is simply that they will not come back on a regular basis if you do not add more pages to the already created pages.

I agree with a few here. You best bet is to have the drip feed onto your site. However this can be bad as well. For with recent changes to googles algorithm they are trying to remove what looks like auto blog sites. But the easy way around this is to simply change the times that your post will go live when drip feeding them on the site.

As long as your content is original, you will not have any issues. However it is recommended to keep your website updated on a regular basis. For this purpose, i recommend everyone to add hot offers on your business from time to time or you may start a blog for your website to make sure your website is updated regularly.

    You won't have problems!

Of course it better to diversify your plans and add a ceratinnumber of pages consistently.

For example, 1-10 articles per day or as you want.

Google definitely won't penalize you if you are doing your work legitimately.

Just focus on creating content and creating HIGH QUALITY website and all will be good.

Google loves HIGH QUALITY websites that have unique content. Because their main goal is to provide people who are searching with the BEST results.

I used to build autoblogs with the wp robot plugin, and create over 100 posts with backdates - so the site went live and had immediately over 100 pages of content, and what's even worse - duplicate content.

I never got penalized for that, some of my blogs are consistently ranking no1 in Google.
You will not have any problems with that.

Don't forget to allow your visitors to comment on your articles, this will show Google that you're site is interactive. You can get penalized if you're posting like 1,000 pages per day, but for 35 pages you won't run into any problems.

I've got some autoblogs posting 100 to even 300 unique articles every day! These blogs are online since june 2010 and I never got any problems concerning my SERPS.

You really shouldn't be worried about the content as long as it's unique.

Personally I think the broken link issue is the real issue. I would be more concerned with that than posting all of your content at once. You off-site marketing (SEO) efforts should negate any (minimal at best) penalty you would incur by not metering your content.

It works perfectly well to launch a site with massive content, even without adding new. What is natural and not changing from year to year and I am pretty certain google think the good site naturally has a lot of content from the beginning.

I've never had any issue with adding content too quickly. The one thing I would watch out for is adding links too quickly.

Yes, links should appear as coming naturally. So if your domain is brand new, add them gradually.

If your domain is more than a year old it's less important to do so.
