Word Press Direct? Anyone use em?

Hi guys, I was doing "the challenge" and, as they advised using wordpress direct, I thought I"d go along with it.

They claim that you will rank higher in google, as their code is cleaner than allot of wordpress templates out there...

Anyway, I thought their templates on offer were a bit dated looking, and the content also displays funny when I upload it, missing characters, random paragraph breaks.

Does any one use them? Do you recommend? Or is it best to just use a good wordpress template?

I have spare time on my hands now, and plan to spend the next few weeks really sorting my blog out. Oh, if you have any good, preferably free, wordpress template recommendations, I'd love to hear em... 2 column is fine.

    I tried wordpress direct during the 30DC but didn't want to pay the money every month just for wordpress.

    If you search hard enough you can discover the plugins they use for all the WPdirect blogs. Some are proprietary plugins they use themselves (like the ad blocks, etc.) but you can get identical plugins for those.

    If you apply their principles with just a regular wordpress blog, you'll get good results. This past challenge I just used my own wordpress installation and still was able to rank high.

    It is convenient if you are installing a LOT of blogs, as it removed the tedious experience of installing 15 plugins for each installation, etc.

    Just my opinion...others may vary.
