So... I decided to spend my almost $2,000 earning this month..

Well, I had another thread about January being a horrible month for me. It hasn't been THAT bad, but it has been slower than other months. I'm at about 1,800 for the month and I'm spending it all in the next couple days.

I'm not worried about people stealing this idea because it might just be too risky and might not work at all.

I decided to put together a "street team" of a few models / actresses, and basically going to have them going business to business since the majority of business owners in the St. Louis metro area are male. I think it is about 65%. Anyway, my idea was to have them personally delivery marketing materials, business cards, and a brochure type flier.

I also am building a team of commission only salesman so I think this could really give me market control in my local market.

Do you guys think this is too risky?

    Too risky? There is always risk in anything, but that is the only way you get a reward! I would love to know how it all turns out. I am using fanpages for my offline business. David Cisneros has a bunch of great products on Facebook fanpages.

    How well versed are these "street team" people? What are they going to sell? Are they going to talk to the business owners at all? Although most of the business owners are male, doesnt mean a hot blond can sell them a $1k a month seo package!

    I would like to know how it turns out!

      Well that is true. It is for web design, as well as SEO. The promotional material is going to have everything inside it. I'm not counting on them making a single sale, they don't need to.

      The goal is to follow up with these businesses after the initial contact is made. They will also set up an appointment to either meet, or for a phone call.

      Everybody will be followed up with by me, as well as other sales people. However, the actual leads that set up a time to meet or talk, will be very likely to get a website. At least that is what I am hoping for.

    In my opinion, that just sounds weird, honestly. For me, I just don't know what to say to that idea. Well, not weird, just not something I would maybe consider spending the money to do, besides just out and out sales to get customers.

    But, everything is too risky, in business, depending on how you look at it.

    Anytime you spend money you are risking something with no promise of reward.

    Only you can make the decision I am just giving you my personal assessment. So, more power to ya.

    Your idea is interesting. I wouldn't go through the trouble to find models and actresses, but I see where you are coming. You should do Bob Parson's way of advertising. Put some girls in bathing suites, have them go door to door and advertise your business. ( I know I am horrible at making jokes. ) Business is risky no matter what. You are never guaranteed to succeed, but people succeed all the time. Give it a try.

    I think your money would be best spent on seasoned salespeople that will not take no for an answer and would be able to answer sales questions properly.

      I doubt that, the purpose is not for them to sell. Just to drop off information.

        They'll still get some stick, although not too much as long as they're just dropping stuff off. Yes it's true that having pretty girls do it will mean they break some of those barriers right away.

        However, they may only be talking to gate keepers who are, a lot of the time (is this sexist?) going to be women, themselves.
