About Sitesell Commission

I was surprised and happy to get a congratulations email from Ken Evoy of sitesell that I had a renewal for 650 and I'll be getting a 149.00 commission. However, when I logged in to the affil section it said it was 0.

I wrote to support and was told this:

"I verified your affiliate account. You have repeat sales
listed, but you have no first-purchase sales at this time.

Here is a short explanation about what is happening...

The amount of commission that you receive for repeat sales
depends upon the number of first-purchase sales (i.e., sales
by new customers wearing your cookie) that you make during
the current accounting period.

New customers help to grow your business and SiteSell's.
Our repeat sales compensation rewards active
partners-in-sales and builds true equity for you, as
outlined in the Getting Started Action Guide.

Since you have no first-purchase sales listed for this
accounting period, you do not receive any commission. But
don't worry. Your repeat sales commissions are not lost.
They will be carried over month by month until you make
another first sale.

Please see the compensation schedule on your Accounting
Home Page in the 5 Pillar Club, under "Your Current
Repeat-Purchase Commission Status" section"

Does this make any sense that an affiliate shouldn't be paid for a renewed sale due to not making a first purchase sale? Obviously the person renewing did make a first purchase sale to start with! I find this confusing and never heard of an affiliate program like this.

It is something I find extremely irritating about the Sitesell commission structure - and is one reason I won't promote them any more.

Hi Debbie, I am not sure this is the place to grouse about vendors ( I am new here) but having said that, they don't seem to want to honor refunds either.

Or, stop sending email after requesting to be "removed" from their list.

??? Yes, it's not the place...

Debbie, don't worry, you will get your commission... soon.

I also promoted sbi, and I must say that I've never seen a such complicated commission structure.

It's crazy... I think it's working for them like this...

      My advice: relax.

      Franck.

      • Hi Debbie,

Yes, the renewal commissions will stay in your account indefinitely until another first sale is made. In essence, The 5 Pillar Program rewards successful affiliates by paying them higher commissions. Most good affiliate programs do that. For example, Amazon. The more you sell, the higher a percentage you are paid. (No repeat commissions though.)

If you use PayPal, your transaction fees get lower with higher sales. Almost all large programs operate this way.

SiteSell makes repeat commissions higher for successful affiliates as an added incentive for keeping the business going, rather than just setting repeat commissions at the same (low) percentage for all.

This business model has been extremely successful for SiteSell as well as for affiliates with a drive to succeed. SiteSell pays high commissions and has lifetime cookies. It's one of the most respected and successful affiliate programs around.

The accounting accounting system does have some complexities, but with an established track-record-proven 10 year history, there are many affiliates who embrace these complexities and do extremely well with the program.

If you ever have other questions about the 5P Program, you can post them right at the 5 Pillar forums. We try to answer questions there on a daily basis.

Hope that helps clarify things for you!

        All the best,
