Blog URL Help please...

I'm creating a blog for one of my sites and want to get further clarification on the domain/url setup.

I've seen a variety of ways of doing things, but I want to get your opinion.

Is there any difference in the following possibilities from a SEO standpoint? One more beneficial than the others? All the same? etc.

blog.domain.com
www(dot)domain(dot)com/blog/
www(dot)domain(dot)com/blog.aspx (or whatever file extension is used)

Thanks!

Hmmm.... all I can tell you is that I've never dedicated a subdomain to my "blog". I set up wordpress on each site at the root itself, and then on some I have a static homepage, and others the homepage will just be the most recent posts.

I've never read anything that said that any version of www.domain.blog made any difference.

    Ranking based on SEO value:

    1. www(dot)domain(dot)com/blog.aspx (or whatever file extension is used)
    2. blog.domain.com
    3. www(dot)domain(dot)com/blog/

Never use a subdomain as your blog, it will hurt the intial main sites ranking. Use the extension of /blog when doing so. It will help you get many pages ranked in the search engines. Then each post if you setup your permalinks correctly, will be like this .com/TITLE OF BLOG ARTICLE HERE

Thus helping them rank better with onpage seo as well.

I had never heard this before. Can someone explain why a subdomain hurts the main sites ranking?

        It doesn't matter.

Any of those options will perform the same for SEO purposes if that is the only deciding factor involved.

      How about this possibility:

.com/blog.aspx as the main index page for the blog and then .com/TITLE_OF_BLOG_ARTICLE_HERE.aspx as a blog post page?
