I joined Commission Junction- But I don't Get them at all.

So I'm a member of commission junction now. Several days ago I applied to a bunch of advertisers. My application is still pending for the high majority of them. How annoying. One of them denied me (I've got a decent website)

Why would advertisers want to deny someone that could make them money??

Explain that to me. It makes no sense to me..

Also: All I'm seeing at commission junction is books... I thought they were suppose to have programs like clickbank...

And lastly! How in the hell do you find out how much you make per product? I guess I can't tell with amazon either... Anyway.

Any of those questions you can answer would kick ass!! Thank you.

    Carson,

Commission Junction is nothing like clickbank and is not supposed to be. Paydotcom is like clickbank however. CJ is more of the physical products and all you have to do to see what you will earn is look in the commissions section of the advertiser you are promoting. This is where the percentage or flat amount will be.

Also, with Amazon you earn a percentage and it goes up as you get more sales throughout the month. This is very well explained on their website as well.

As to why an advertiser would turn you down....it could be that you are new or they just simply do not like the content of your website. This happens and it is time to just move on to another advertiser.

What are you looking at? There's companies from nearly every category imaginable.

How in the hell do you find out how much you make per product?

When you click to "apply" for that company, if you read the form you will see the commissions they pay.

Why would advertisers want to deny someone that could make them money??

Companies are protective of their brand. Some don't want just anyone marketing their brand.

Sometimes Advertisers want you to live in a certain country to be accepted.

  • Because you have yet to prove yourself. I get dropped on occasion from programs where I am making sales.

What you need to understand is that if you don't make sales then they don't appear to be a good affiliate program. Both sides - publishers and advertisers have statistical information available to them to help them decide who to work with.

So in the same way that an advertiser with an EPC of pennies would be considered poor to a publisher a publisher with an unproven track record wouldn't look good to an advertisers.

If you really want to work with a program, don't just apply... write the affiliate manager a short note.... tell them about your site and how you can make them money.

This results in a very high acceptance rate.

And take the time to read the CJ help files so you truly understand how to best leverage the tools.

Most new affiliates don't invest in learning how to properly do things so they never make any money.

Commission junction is one of my favorite networks. They have tutorials on their site that answer all of the questions you asked. Just spending time on the site will help you figure all that out.

Some of the vendors require well established sites that are getting traffic already.

Also: All I'm seeing at commission junction is books... I thought they were suppose to have programs like clickbank...

They are nothing like Clickbank. They are more like Linkshare. You sell physical products with CJ. There are a lot of great vendors to promote.

And lastly! How in the hell do you find out how much you make per product? I guess I can't tell with amazon either... Anyway.

When you click on apply, it tells you what percentage you make. Again, some will approve you, some will not.

Any of those questions you can answer would kick ass!! Thank you.

Sometimes having a great content website doesn't matter to CJ - because they have some auto-machine rejects systems in place! You have to mail to the company you'd like to apply for as an affiliate (inside the CJ interface).

I had to mail like this several times myself... it's not something I like - and that's why I prefer Amazon for selling physical products.. I just don't feel like applying through mail - and then waiting sometimes weeks until I get a response (if ever).
